2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Yes, it’s very unpleasant when they do such vile things. But this is a good call for Anya - no one will make a red carpet, have to fight. You need to be a cut above, that even the most obstinate psychos recognize reality. Therefore, tomorrow it is necessary to land the quad-lutz, discarding all the psychological stupor existing on this occasion.

P.S. my dear, shy, diplomatic google-translate! "упоротые психи" it's definitely not "obstinate psychos"

Maybe Anna should go back to her SP from last season. Her getting less PCS as a senior than she did as a junior means the judges don't appreciate the program. Perhaps they prefer more "cluttered" choreography, which is a shame because this program suits her. But where Anna shines is PCS, so if she's really a point lower with this than in juniors, it would just be the better choice. Must be devastating for her to see that in the judges' eyes, she is worse than she was in juniors, even though other skaters are known to get a PCS bump once they turn senior. Poor Anna (not Eteri or Russia who comes up with this?).

I'm pretty sure she would have gotten similar components with last season program.

You have to look at the overall judging at this event, which underscored all the juniors who turned into seniors, not just Anna.

When they don't like a program they usually tell you in practice, there were russian judges at Test Skates,... if that was the case Daniil's reaction would have not been shocked.

I mean Kamila and Kseina just scored 73+ in junior. I would imagine Anna is confused.

Well, in my opinion, Kamila and Kseina were both far better than Anna today. And I think the scores for them, and the scores for Anna, are about right. Anna just had an off performance. She'll bounce back I'm sure.

One quad against 2 triksels?

All this talk about how judges 'feel' etc. doesn't add substance to the rule that only the actual performance should be evaluated and not your 'feeling' or the way the skater looked directly at you or avoided just this.

Anyway, it perhaps a call to Anna to do well and perform clean tomorrow. It's not the end of the world or her career at 15, just a valuable lesson.

I don't think Mishin and Gleikhengauz will have a nice casual conversation in the delegations hotel's lobby over a glass of strong liquor. Given Mishin's aversion of anything Moscow I don't think they converse at all when not deemed absolutely necessary.

Who is with Anna? Is her mother chaperoning her, no risk of being bullied by having to share a hotel room?

One quad against 2 triksels?

If Anya lands 4Lz and does the rest without fall and pop, then two trixels will not help Lisa. You see, Anya does not have any doubles in the program, but Lisa has.

Even with 2 quads she will not score more than 200 points so I don't think it's worth it. I would have done just a double lutz for fan delivered the rest of my program and leave.

I think Anna was underscored as well but I also think that should she continue to skate well then her score will rise accordingly. Sometimes I think the judges want to see Juniors prove themselves as Seniors- that doesn't mean its fair. I don't think she should worry though- as long as she skates well her scores will improve.

Lol. Yes, that score is a joke, but Anna should fight for podium anyway. And I bet Lombardia trophy will hardly see Eteri girls again

Why are people so surprised? Junior don;t get high PCS right off the bat in SP, but they do get higher PCS in FS. For comparison Zagitova she recieved 31/68 in her senior debut, Kihira recieved 31/66. Im guessing Shcherbakova will get 30/66-67? probably more if she can get her quad done cleanly. As for Liza getting higher PCS...she didnt deserve it but many skaters have get the same thing, score they didnt deserve. For example Wagner getting higher PCS than Medvedeva in 2016 WC... it happened many times so i dont expect it to change anytime soon.

Very surprised to see so many people on this thread acting like it is the first time a skater has ever been under or over-scored. This is figure skating. It happens all the time. Maybe Anna was unimpressive in person today and we just didn't see it through our screens? Maybe judges don't like the program? Maybe it was a political message from Mishin? Maybe a bit of both? Who knows. It was one program at a Senior B, and Senior B scoring is weird all the time.

Figure skaters are not entitled to a certain level of score at every competition they skate in. You don't get to show up, skate clean, and automatically get 9s and 10s in everything, no matter how well you skated last season. Of course we see that reputation matters sometimes, but a junior reputation matters less than a senior one. I'm sure Anna and her coaches know that.

I'm very curious to find out what Liza's free skate layout will be. What she did at the test skates left me a bit confused.

Also, tomorrow the last group of Chelyabinsk and Lombardia free skates are going to be within an hour or so. Must be an exciting evening for those in Europe.

Anna still seems a bit coltish to me. I think there's too much movement that doesn't relate to the music, and her bent picking leg on the flip and lutz looks a little sloppy. I'm sure she'll improve as the season progresses.

I'm pretty sure they won't let Anna win this, even if she lands a quad while Liza falls on one of her axels.

Look here, 6:24 mark, Anna is shocked, Daniil doesn't understand the scores either. I've watched some performances and Lombardia is a badly organised competition. Anna is the current RUSNAT champion, here she had a good program, maybe not stellar, but she was hugely underscored. Again, what is the point of such competitions? senior b? if they are not properly organised? Things like these are discouraging for the future :(
