Rino Matsuike was 3rd in jgp Riga right? Her score there was pretty good I believe, 190+. So, if she is 2nd at the last jgp this week in Italy, can she make it to the Final ahead of Viktoria Vasilieva? That’d be pretty cool I think , to have skaters from Japan, Korea, US, and Russia at the Final. So I guess I’ll root for Rino this week. Is anyone in her way of her getting a silver medal?

With her 3rd place in Riga, Rino can only make the final if she a) wins gold, b) wins silver with > 202.23 points to beat Vasilieva, or c) wins silver with < 202.23, but all of Sinitsyna/Frolova/Park implode. Even a bronze while the aforementioned three imploding won't be enough as Seoyeong Wi will win the tiebreaker in that case.

Funny enough, I think her chances of getting gold (if she's clean and others are shaky) are higher than getting silver with > 202.23. Without too much backing in PCS and lights out skating, I don't see her being rewarded over 202.23. Hoping her the best :)

She can improve a lot her score in both programs especially in the free due to her mistake in her 3lz-3t-2lo combination in her first competition, so if she do a better 3lz-3t combination in the short program plus a clean 3lz-3t-2lo combination in the free with better jumps overall (and maybe avoid an ! in her flip) her score will be close to 200 or even surpass it and a gold medal is a really probability with a silver medal almost secure (besides her PCS should increase if she does clean programs), knowing her mental strenght I know she can do it, she is so far the best japanese junior lady this season and I hope she can make it to the jgp final but especially I hope she do clean performances to be proud of herself :)

She needs to be super clean to have a chance against Sinitsyna, Frolova and Park. But podium and 2nd place is doable as she has she has the potential scoring to compete with Frolova and Park. Only Sinitsyna will be hard to beat as she gets higher PCS and GOEs.
Score will be the most important as if she finishes 2nd and Park 3rd, she will compete with Vasilieva and Park for the last two places. She should be close to 70 and 130 (so 200) if clean imo but i don't expect judges to reward her that much so Vasilieva's score will be hard to beat. But Park's is doable imo.

Hope she's not injured.
And that JSF won't waste two spots. Is it too late for a replacement? Maybe for Rino but we knew that Rion was injured much sooner so JSF could have give her spot to someone else.

Still no clarification about Rino's WD-ed from final JGP stop?
I was trying to check the discussion thread of JGP Egna Neumarkt. It reminded that that Rino was actually listed as an exempted skater for Chubu regional. But she didn't show up in Chubu regional last weekend either. So now I'm not sure...without attending JGP nor regional competition, there might be no way for Rino to get to All Japan Junior Nationals.... :(

according to Jack Gallagher's tweet:

Rino Matsuike WD from JGP Italy because of bruise on left buttock.

What a shame! she could have had a medal and improved her score, even a clasification to jgpf could have been a posibility I hope she heals fast. But seriously why there are no substitute girls here?, it's not cool watch a jgp without a japanese lady. :(:sad21:

So sorry to hear about poor Mai. Fingers and toes crossed for her that her health improves this season, even if it meant taking a season off. I hope her condition can get better as she grows older?

Mai actually was trending on Japanese twitter last night. It just shows that she has a lot of supporters.
I hope she recovers from this and be able to skate/compete again soon or later.
