Good for MT/M for pushing themselves. They need to get a few more extensions and hold things. They might need m ore flattering and showy costumes. Michael looks like he stuck pocket square in a t shirt As his lines aren't the best the minimalist dancer t shirt and black pants is not flattering. He neds something more formal and the silly pocket square in a t shirt is not helpful.
 
Kaiya's short program from JGP Italy. She's in fifth place going into the free, very narrowly behind fourth (and third, for that matter), though her free program BV and averages are lower than the skaters surrounding her so I'm trying to avoid dreaming this will lead to a medal. As it is, it's a terrific result for her, the best international score for a Canadian lady this season so far. Might have made it to 60 with a bit better results on her last two spins.

Very happy for Natalie & Bruce's result, though they've still got some room to improve the free dance (you can see they weren't overly happy with the score). Natalie was a bit rocky to start, though nothing terrible; the single-biggest loss of points was their combination spin was again a level 2. Did they not have time to fix that in the weeks between Riga and here? Whatever the case, they've got their silver medal, the second-alternate position for the JGP Final, and a YOG berth, so call that mission accomplished.

Miku & Tyler still have the highest total score, but no medal to show for it.

Alicia Fabbri has said that she and Paul will be competing at the Warsaw Cup.
 
It was such a joy to watch Kaiya skate her short. I hope that as she matures and expectations grow, she can keep that joy, energy, freedom and fearless approach to her skating as much as possible. Looking forward to watching her long in a little bit!
 
Kaiya has 2 great programs that truly make her shine. Add in good coaching, choreography, joy and the 'IT' factor. Sounds like another former Canadian ladies champ., with OGMs & a World Championship, who we all know. :)

I think Kirsten's costume is absolutely beautiful and perfect. But I agree about Micheal. He looked a little unkempt.
 
Kaiya's free skate. A really good effort. She got a ! on the Lutz and a UR on the second part of her combination, in addition to the Salchow fall, but that's the most entertaining junior free skate from a Canadian lady we've seen, and she finished sixth so far.

Her spins overall were a bit off in this event. I don't know if that's a consequence of focusing more on jump training or just the first spin error getting in her head a bit, but they're normally better than this.

Kaiya has flashes of Osmond but she seems to lack stamina or focus on spins. Constantly losing levels and such it seems.

But,as Ted said, she is just so joyful and enjoying it. I loved watching this girl. Very promising! I like her jumping on the different leg than most do. I do the same myself (single jumps, no more) and it's so fascinating to see skaters jumping clockwise.

As I said in my later post, her spins in her previous events were better than they were here.

It's something to work on, of course (as well as her jump exits; I think that's the single-biggest thing holding her back from getting stronger GOE). But she's 13 years old, there's oodles of time for that.
 
Gabby just posted on instagram that she's been cleared for Finlandia, so assuming that means we'll be seeing her this weekend. Interested to know what condition she's in, and see her programmes!

- Emily Bausback commented on the post "see u there", so obviously she's going too.

Great catch, as the entries aren't listed yet on the official Warsaw Cup site or the Skate Canada Event Schedule.

I know Joseph would like to get a chance to earn his senior TES minimums, so I'm happy that SC is giving him the opportunity to do so. :)
