Alena Kostornaia

Wow. I did not expect her to even land one of the 3A after seeing how she was looking. And she goes clean. Amazing.

Anybody else really noticed how well she executes and sells the step sequence?? She is a true dancer, her movements are so on point.
She has managed to make a Twilight (!!) program and music my favorite of this season

Speed and Skill rode with Alyona today, as a vampire, creature of twilight, alternating between night and day, she must be appreciative of their invisible presence, guiding her, guarding her. Not that her level of command over her skating and artistry need much guidance. Alyona is -the complete skater- after all.

Awesome Amazing Aces Always!

Congrats to Alena!

After seeing her landing that huge 3F ... I'm the only one thinking that her first 4 will be a 4F

I take it as a win for Alena. No pressure of her favoring Alina. Do we not remember the Zag and Evengia drama and watching of Eteri face for favoritism.

So, Aliona was trained in triple axels, because she is less favored than Alina. OK.

That was superb! I was watching and I was like, and she threw in double axel too, just to have a full set or what?

Kostornaia does not look good, he is aborting the triples. He will easily qualify for the GPF, he has no competition for silver here; However, if he does not win, and also gets less than 220 points, he knows he has nothing to do with Trusova and Shcherbakova. As Eteri would say, 3 falls, 3 golds, 3 records... They are the 3A...

I'm confused... who is he?

I give Eteri credit for allowing her girls to challenge highest Tech they can even if it mean her current champ may lose. But her reactions when two
competing is scrutinised by fans and press for favoritism. Alena did not need that drama first GP.

I think the team should switch her 2A with another jump. 3 Axels in a row seems a bit much and she doesn't get the GOE on the 2A she could and should.

Did she win?

Vlad what are you talkin about with this he stuff? Did you have more beers than me today? ;)

Bravo Aliona, and a beautiful performance. And who knows, she has a big 3T as well, so she can learn all the quads.

Being serious, looking at all her jumps she has the natural spring and elevation. For a consistent quad I think rotation speed would need to be faster as well which I hope she achieves in the future, but no rush!

I wasn't able to watch the competition live, but on the video I watched of her free skate, you could see the light glinting on her inside edge as she made sure she had a deep outside for her lutz. She wasn't about to let them ding her again [emoji23] She's never had a problem with her flip edge though, so I'm not sure what the judges were seeing today.

Congrats to Aliona!!! :luv17: She was beautiful and fierce. I actually love this Twilight program- yes, the music/thematic transitions are a bit rough, but she clearly loves it and performs so well. I see shades of Elena Radionova in the performance. Go Aliona, and looking forward to seeing her win many more competitions this season!

I won't go into this mess.
