Random Q from me: It's cool that Rika did the 3A+3T again in her FS, but I'm a bit puzzled why she did that. The base value is higher if she does 3A+2T in the first half and 3F+3T in the second half. Has she been struggling with the 3F+3T? Or is it to show that she can do 3A+3T (but other 3A skaters can't/don't)?![]()
Here to express appreciation for Rin Nitaya's FS. Hers is one of the few I've seen so far. What a way to conclude her competitive career

Funnily enough, the 3A+3T looked just fine to me, but the 3T was called UR. Tough crowd.
Can someone who knows the goss explain to me why Satoko changed coaches?
These are the messages that JSF would send with their final two Worlds selections:
Higuchi/Miyahara: Nationals are important
Higuchi/Kawabata: Nationals are REALLY important
Miyahara/Sakamoto: Nationals mean nothing unless you win
Miyahara/Kawabata: We hate Wakaba
Sakamoto/Kawabata or Higuchi/Sakamoto: We have no idea what we're doing
No. If they send Miyahara and Sakamoto to Worlds the message would also be "we hate Wakaba".
In 2017 Wakaba had the most impressive GP season but she wasn't chosen for PC because somebody else got Silver at Nationas. If they don't pick /her/ for her own Silver now, JSF would be showing absurd favoritism.

Isn't Mie Hamada very good at teaching jumps as evidenced by Rika?
Seems peculiar to change coaches when your old coach is a jump expert and your ex training mate is a top rate jumping bean (I say jumping bean fondly, love Rika to bits).

JSF is not a single, unchanging entity. Selection members have changed since 2017, and they may have a different mindset that has nothing to do with hating Wakaba. Selections only take the current season's results/happenings into account.
Exactly, JSF don't follow their own selection criteria, or they just hate Wakaba, or both, that's why there is a lot of possibilities about the next competition selections, if they don't choose Wakaba for worlds then... :dev2:
I don't think Perhaps Satoko wanted to learn how to jump with power. ( or perhaps she was just sick of being yelled at and having her hair pulled)... anyway change takes time...
