exactly...did anyone think Alina would have been OC back in 2016 when she debuted as a junior, 2 years before? no, everyone had already crowned Zhenya. skating is so unpredictable and so many things can happen in 2 years. predictions this far out are just pointless.
I think all the girls who will be on Russia's 2022 Olympic team are skaters we already know. Alina's case was special because she was a "late bloomer" who didn't qualify for juniors in her first year of eligibility. But given the current field, I think if you didn't make JGP your first year, it's not likely that you'll be a contender. The field is too deep for late bloomers when all the current skaters are increasing their technical arsenal at such an unprecedented rate. And skaters who are only junior eligible next season will not make the age cut off.
So I believe it will be some mixture of the current skaters. I don't think there's going to be someone unknown now who will end up on the team.

Hopefully everything goes well at her career. She's doing so much at such a young age it's just hard to believe.
