SHE IS INSANE!! That score is rubbish but she got through it best she could.

I don’t think the score was rubbish. She did a great job under the circumstances, but she lost about 5-6 points on her combo and spin/st sq levels. If she hadn’t, she would probably be in third with a score of 76+. Hoping the boots last through FS.

Well, she was one of the only ones (the only?) who got lower PCS than she gets internationally..

This is the highest PCs she's gotten since the coaching change though. However I do think she was definitely underscored, that 71 is leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. I hope she feels more comfortable in the boot and that they find a better solution so she can try to get 4th in the free. If they don't call the lutz, I think she gets 150-152.

Forgive me, I wrote that in the heat of the moment, I hadn‘t assessed the situation properly yet. I still think she‘s underscored but not as bad as I initially thought.

Good point. Can’t shop in Moscow bring her boots? If I could I would personally drive from Moscow to give her new boots! As has been discussed, these boots are not like traditional boots and I’ve even heard from other skaters that they do not have a break in period.

Zhenya: "Yesterday was a very hard day-fall and after it, it was clear that the boot was broken. Found for me skates for beginners-bcs my model and my size wasn't available. We even tried to put my skate blades at beginners skates but it was a bad option. So we decided that we need to skate in old ones. I did today all that I could. I manage to deal with that my hands and knees were shaking, together with Brian we patched the boots with tape... All in all, we manage to do it. This is all that I can say."

She landed all her jumps and managed to perform in broken boots! I am feeling zen about the whole thing.

Just need a clean free and she'll be fine. It is what it is and she has done her utmost best to stay in the top 5. I am proud and relieved!

Beyond amazing, she is really so mentally strong. It is only natural that she was shaking inside, one wrong move ,and not knowing if your boot will hold. It has to be nerve wracking to say the least

I think the score is rubbish because the standard used for her was different than the others - at least those ahead of her. So even if theoretically, she lost those points fair and square, if they had judged those ahead of her similarly, then their scores would be different.

I'm so proud of her and I hope she's proud of herself. It's insane how strong willed she is!

Well, at least we don‘t have to worry about the lutz tomorrow. It will almost certainly be the only one that gets called. Priorities have been shown. I just hope Zhenya can stay in 5th place.

Ok we all should calm down. Come on guys she is 5th. On a broken boot. Last year she was what 12th after her short? This is zhenya we are talking about. And even if she gets only 5th place In a field that deep with a broken boot? That is insane and shows how good she is cause yes today she skated not lights out like she would have done with a perfect boot. . Without the boot issue I would say she would have been 4 at least, she was skating more cautiously since her boot was broken
