I read on Twitter that she tried with the new boots but they didn't work, probably she wasn't really able to do her programs and jumps so that's why they decided to take the broken ones

Yesterday, Zhenya and Brain visited "The Axel" store and bought Edea Chorus boots. (these are the most professional boots they had, you can only jump doubles with them as they have not the same support as Pianos or Ice Flys). But these boots didn't fit the level at which she skates".

Goodness me, this is definitely unfortunate. I hope that the tape holds the boots securely together for the duration of Nationals, and that she has no problems from them. This must be frustrating for her, but as fabienne1996 points out, Rika has done this before, at Japanese Nationals last year, coincidentally, where she landed up winning the silver medal, so fingers crossed that Zhenya too can perform every bit as well as Rika did.

I literally did not think it could get any worse after yesterday but it did. Honestly, all I‘m hoping for at that point is that she doesn‘t end up completely injured. Please just hold, boots!! This is so scary and dangerous.

Exactly.

Well, if the whole thing has anything ”good“ about it, it‘s that I‘ve stopped caring about placements altogether. Now I just want her to get through this whole mess without an injury, get new boots, skate at Averbukh‘s show and then get home and have some rest.

I literally did not think it could get any worse after yesterday but it did. Honestly, all I‘m hoping for at that point is that she doesn‘t end up completely injured. Please just hold, boots!! This is so scary and dangerous.

Couldn't she have new boots overnighted to her from Moscow or St. Petersburg? Buy new boots I mean the brand she wears.

On a side note I never thought we would be having drama about freaking boots. Zhenya is clearly in a much better place heading into Nationals this year than last year. But I hope this boot controversy does not shake her in any way. But it has rattled a lot of us fans.

Are the judges scoring the girls very good today? I heard Alena got a huge score on her SP. If judges are scoring big in general terms today that should bode well for Zhenya since she is skating last.
