What was the mistake? I dont understand? She is athlete and In Japan she has possibilty to train...she is smart girl! Lets see how it all turns out autumn...i really hope she is better tha local russian girls
We can all hope for as much we want, and hope dies last in these times of hardships
There are a lot of practical obstacles.
Return to Russia for medical checkups and clearance to compete within the insurance policy. All capable medical personnel, including FFKKR, Sambo-70 doctors and nurses are in the coronavirus frontline, nobody knows for how long? Even if they will survive unscathed, they will need serious recuperation from the most stressful months of continuous ICU duty.
Getting back into Russia without flights and compulsory quarantine that will be enforced by law and checks and punishments?
Same for Canada first and then by season’s opening to Russia?
Canada seems to be getting the spread and rise of the pandemic under control, Russia much less so, even though Moscow is better equipped than the regions.
Training camps should start when FFKKR has made the teams pubic, in about 4 weeks from now? Finance depends on which list you end up, sponsor contracts probably too, as will be lucrative endorsements.
Then there must be ice, and a reasonable safe and comfortable training environment and living arrangements for isolated training camps, perhaps lasting the whole season to comply with ISU demands? At least for the Russian children that still live with their parents and siblings. You can probably imagine the worries of any concerned parents having to part from their child for months of complete physical isolation in whatever presumed clean and safe location, Sochi as suggested by TAT is the most popular holiday resort in Russia. Unless locked down, millions of people will want to spend summer holidays on the Black Sea.
The children will cope, they have each other and are working towards their medal chances with their full power of youth and force of motivation.
Training at TCC under the same precautions seems entirely possible? With international athletes coming and going based on their contracts? Even Yevgeniya must feel lonely and sad and in need of comfort from a relative?
Then gathering in Russia for Open Test Skates camp with the final assessments and division over the first GP assignments, other than Challengers, which FFKKR doesn’t pay for.
How many GP events and Challengers will actually remain on the calendar, nobody knows, he/she might be training in vain?
Coming season is going to be very difficult for all involved, and a perceived advantage of sneaked in extra training time might turn out a hindrance?
There are both pro’s and cons in staying close to the home base, wherever that may be.
When can only hope Medvyedeva is serious and not throwing caution in the wind in these kind of seemingly irrational and desperate moves.
