November 2019, a week before the event: Alena withdraws
December 2019: Alena announces that she has already begun off ice training and finally received the correct diagnosis for a still unspecified injury, and says that off ice training has so far been pain free! Yay!
Late December 2019: Alena is on back on ice!
Late January 2020: Alena retires, saying that it is sadly too painful for her to perform jumps.
To me it seems that somewhere in the month of JAnuary they tried jumps, and it became evident that after a long treatment, she was not going to be able to jump again. On her wiki it says back injury, which is often long lasting and hampering to ability in sports but who knows, for the time that Team Tutberidze is relevant it will probably remain a secret. Perhaps Alena will one day write her own memoir of her experience. The junior dance field is quite deep, and many who attempt to switch from singles to dance are unsuccessful but let's hope that it will be different for Alena.
There were rumors that Team Panova was incapable of teaching quads, another rink mom from the Leopards said that there was no such knowledge of an injury to ALena in 2018. But Ksenia Sinitsyna got a mini documentary on the channel where she lands 3A<, and Anastasia Kostyuk (what happened to her? such a lovely skater) also had triples that looked like they had room for another rotation.
In the story of Kanysheva there is some omission of detail and PR no doubt but for now, details remain unclear
