What I really adored of that is her expression just before she bites the bouquet, and later when she invites Anna and Sasha to eat it too.
She can transmute boring formal situations in unforgettable moments, like when she come out from the crowd to compliment the Men medalists and make fun of Morisi.

Aliona has made it to the top 3 for the best newcomer category of the ISU awards. While I am not the biggest supporter of these awards and find many of the final nominations to be...interesting...I will be cheering for Aliona to win this award. I think she’s got a great chance based on her results

I’m not sure the age of the gymnast, but Aliona is almost 3 years older than Daria yet significantly shorter

I hope their training is going well and we will get some actual updates soon, either on new programs or showing videos of elements they are working on...

Throwback to when Aliona forgot to add the 2T after the 3A. Love how she held that landing so beautifully only to be like “oops“ a second later.

I actually really like that 3A + 2T - that extension on landing is so gorgeous! Wouldn't mind seeing more combinations jumped like that! Is there a penalty for a perceived delay between two elements of a combination?

Agree on the extension but to me it still just looks “wrong“ somehow, my mind was immediately going: “ooh, she forgot the 2T“. Maybe because I‘m not used to seeing combinations jumped like that.

I also don‘t think there‘s a specific penalty but I can imagine that it might result in lower GOE? “effortless throughout (including rhythm in Jump combination)“ is a GOE bullet, so I guess one could argue that the delay made the whole combination seem less effortless as a whole. I‘m not sure I‘d necessarily agree with it but that‘s the only thing I found. :think:
