Let something start, finally, some true skating, this off-season will drive me mad soon. :dbana:

On the other hand I'm so curious, I wanna see the results and consequences after this summer.

The prospect of all this drama with no outlet in competitions keeps me up at night.

According to a source familiar with the situation, the main reason for the transition was the opportunity, with Plushenko's assistance, to sign a lucrative advertising contract.

tldr: In May, team Tutberidze went to the training camp in Novogorsk. Alena was the first to have both programs choreographed and seemed to like them and enjoy them. In July, she suddenly began training poorly and arguing with the coaches. Then, she informed them that she had decided in May to leave the team. Daniil was shocked and told her he couldn't believe it. It turned out to be true. She will now train with Evgenii Pluschenko.

She seems to be a girl with a lot of personality. She wants to go to medicine, so she is very intelligent.
But for now, we only have the opinion of a party, I am waiting for the opinions of Plushy and Alena

I wonder how Sasha feels about Alena joining her. Wasn't a big draw of Plushenko's her being the only top skater?

Lol this blows me away. Sasha wanted to get the away from the most beautiful skater in the world and now she's going to be training with her again everyday. Damn! Tough luck for the quad Queen!

The Russian Federation never should have allowed this move at this stage in the off season. You might even say they are playing Russian roulette with future results internationally. They went from having the strongest women's team ever in ladies figure skating to who knows now what we have disarray and bitter feelings everywhere. If Aliona wanted to leave in May that should have been the time. Certainly not now when they've been working on new programs and training for her for 2 months.

EG also needs to re-evaluate her possibly being too rigid and not letting these kids be individuals. I'm just saying in the span of a couple months she lost quad Queen and the most beautiful skater in the world 2 years after losing her most beloved skater Zhenya because Zhenya wanted more control in her career.

She also needs to re-evaluate she gets 40% of her pupils earnings. I guarantee that was a sticking point with at Zhenya Sasha and now aliona who will probably get a big sponsorship deal with Plushenko. Promises promises. ;)

Plushenko failed miserably with Sima and Nastia. That can't possibly happen with Sasha and aliona can it?

We asked the skating gods for programs and they gave us another coaching change...

I have so many reactions........

First of all, WHAT?

I'm sure there are so many sides to the story that we're not seeing, because what we are seeing is so crazy and unorganized. We just saw her program announcement! This departure seems so much more sudden and wild than Sasha's.

I'm also really sad that we'll never know what the short program was to be. And never see either of the programs (although I will say that lovely wasn't my favorite choice). I will say that if Alena did actually decide this in May, then did she pick lovely on purpose because she knew she was leaving? I doubt it but the whole thing is just so weird. I wonder who will choreograph the programs now. Will it be Rozanov, or will she get outside choreographers like was originally promised with Sasha. Of course, the pandemic makes that hard, but we'll see?

Also, poor Trusova lol. She leaves partly avoid the lack of attention that she felt she was getting, and it was gonna be her and Rozanov against the world. I wonder what the dynamic will be now. Will this also open the doors for more Tutberidze students to follow? Or will it just stabilize Shcherbakova, Valieva, Usacheva, etc. because they have more attention now? Will they begin to put more focus on Alina and try a legitimate return with her? I guess that one depends on Alina herself.

Anyways, Trusova/Kostornaya, the original junior duo back together again...

this sounds like skating version of Game of Thrones

When I recall that several months ago I was just interested whether Plushy's team would be able to make Stanislava Konstantinova consistent...

Since I've posted, some other thoughts have come to my mind

1) This could be the beginning of a rivalry between Trusova/Kostornaya and Shcherbakova/Valieva

2) Eteri sort of lost the one opportunity she had to sweep the Worlds podium (not that another opportunity won't come, the lineup there is still strong and once some of them turn senior things could change).

Exactly! I also felt at the time that Angels of Plushenko was a sort of “last resort” for Russian ladies that couldn’t fit in with Eteri or Mishin and didn’t have the success/funding to move internationally. Sotnikova went to him when she was planning her “comeback,” Tarakanova went to him when she was first dropped by Eteri, Konstantinova went there, and Serafima went there. Of course, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing for these ladies, it’s just that most of them did not have careers that had real success on the senior level compared to TT skater (minus Sotnikova, but she went to Plushenko after winning the OGM).

Edit : I realized Sotnikova probably had the funds to go to different coach, but I don’t think she was really trying to make a comeback for competition skating.

Yeah, I think Rozanov being there changes everything, I think its clear he's the one doing the technical heavy-lifting (well at least for the Eteri-transfers). I remember saying back when Trusova moved there that this was Plushenko's big shot to up the reputation of his school, its sort of now or never. But now its *really* his shot. He has Three huge prospects - he literally just got two of the top three current ladies skaters as short term prospects and Veronika Zhilina as sort of a longer term prospect.

Please don't confuse your imagination with reality! Repeating and repeating an statement made out of thin air does not mean that it comes true at some point.
In addition, your constant provocations towards Trusova will become boring in the long run.

yeah, it's do or die for Rozanov now. He either becomes a coaching super star, or just one of many Plushenko's coaches.
I hope it motivates him enough to do the best he can for both Sasha and Aliona.

same here. who else is part of their team besides Sasha's old coach?

Hmmm so is it really because of a commercial contract promised by Plushy that she left Eteri ? It’s surprising coming from Alena since she won everything except the national. I also wonder about the arguments. Daniil said she likes hers programs, maybe she wanted some changes or is it too heavy to share the same rink with other stars ? I don’t get it.

The smartest and most far-sighted girls, Anna and Alina, stay with Eteri, which makes me happy!

It's no secret that apart from Alina of the three aces I was a fan of Anna the most (and the juniors Kamila, Daria, Maiia and Sofia), but in those times I would not claim anything with any certainty, esp. who stays where

And as a sidenote, as if there was not enough drama, I, after years, was truly forced to make my insta account, because newly I couldn't find anything there without a profile: I was resisting long, but all resistance was useless at the end :palmf::laugh:
