She did Carmen in the 2016/17 season? Oh. Well, it makes sense that she may not want to do it again, but Plushenko may insist, saying that she did it so long ago but can do it justice now. I still think she’ll get a warhorse. And Anna too, even if it isn’t what I predicted (red violin).
She did it before her first JGP season. I don't think the program was very good and she didn't perform it particularly well, there definitely is some room for re-exploration of Carmen for her in my opinion.

No guesses here, but I would love for Anna to get a big dramatic classical warhorse for her free, along the lines of Rachmaninoff. Or maybe Nutcracker or Swan Lake. IF not that, then something with a dark theme or even a tango.

For her short, I'd love her to have something upbeat or jazzy.

No more light lyrical pieces, though. She does them well but they need to show her versatility to maximize her PE/INT as she can't compete with Alena's SS and she needs to increase her PCS to have a better shot at winning.
Ballet would be very interesting for Anna, although she probably isn't that type of a performer. I'd like to see such a program for Kamila Valieva, though.

Something dark and eerie for Anna would be good.

I’m so bored without skating, so I’m trying to guess what the Russian ladies’ music selections will be. Shcherbakova: Red Violin. Sinitsina: based on last year’s programs, probably something unique and not overused. Guliakova: Mishin will probably select something uninspired for her style; I’m thinking a warhorse, maybe Phantom or Experience. Alyona: Carmen. We can say goodbye to ever seeing No One Ever Called Me That. Samodurova: Phantom, or, (perhaps to do a different theme in the free skate than the last 3 years of sassy and bold programs) Piano Concerto No.2.

Maiia Khromykh's free skate this season is, in part, to Red Violin, so I think that rules it out for Anna.

readernick;2626101I guess we need a poll. Who is the worst scoundrel and charlatan in Russian sports said:
This was my exact thought. Actually, there are so many choices within Russia that we might need two rounds of elections. One to narrow down the competition, and the other to choose the winner of this prestigious title.

There is so much competition that "All Is Fair in Love and War"

Was it Anna that said she loves Mao Asada? I would love to see her do Rachmaninoff since it would be different but also be keeping in with the theme of her programs so far.

She looks great so i dont get what you starla see because i and i think others dont see it, she was always the one withthemore mature body, the one that we could see would get beautiful womanly curves . She grew a bit, but she didnt really put on weight mabye athiny little bit but thats not really abad thing What you are saying is close to bodyshaming, just ebcause she grows i toa more womanly body and may have got 1 or 2 kilos more , which i find good because seriously you cant expect a 17 year old to have the weight of a 14 year old. Bodys change and there is nothing bad about it.

That is her in training, she looks great

She looks the same than few months earlier. Just more blonde.
I'm surprised to see that extended biellman given the rumors of back injury.

yeah same if she was injured they wouldn’t let her do biellman or layback.

Firebird was a ballet and it did suit Anna, but certainly very different from Nutcracker and Swan Lake. It suits her graceful light style, without being boring and generic like many soft lyrical programs. I actually see the opposite for Valieva. While she has nice lines and extensions, I find that her body movement and musicality suits a more contemporary style than classical.

I actually disagree; I think, with competition season only a little while away, she’d be doing the beilman with a small or “almost healed” injury because she needs to prepare. Plushenko will want her ready for the test skates. And athletes are often told to fight through the pain.
Btw who took that beautiful Alyona picture on her birthday?

I think Aliona has said that she prefers to have music that hasn't been used much (she doesn't like warhorses). But it's not clear how much input she'll have for her music selections under Plushenko/Rozanov.

For what it's worth, there was this short video of Aliona working on choreo with Plushenko:
https://vk.com/videos-156669444?z=video-156669444_456240147/pl_-156669444_-2

The music playing is "Joke's on You" from the "Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey" soundtrack.
I can't tell if Plushenko is actually choreographing to that song, or if it's just random music in the background.

BUT, if this IS going to be part of one of Aliona's programs, then the lyrics are...interesting.

(From verse 2)
My heart's gone bad, now it won't beat for you
You had your laugh, now I won't play the fool
I've lied for you, and I liked it too
But I'm black and blue, from bleedin' for you
You strike the match, burn me out so fast
Look what we had, now it's turned to ash
I've lied for you, and I liked it too
But my makeup's ruined
And now I'm laughin' through my tears
I'm cryin' through my fear
But baby, if I had to choose
The joke's on you

I wouldn't say that Firebird was that good for Anna, it mostly was carried by the costume change gimmick, her SP was far stronger for her.

I also disagree on Valieva, she can do contemporary but ballet should be fantastic, the only one who I think would do it better is Veronika Zhilina.

the rumors of a back injury for Aliona were false thank God.

She is Anna ballerina after all. :) I agree with you that firebird did suit her.

I know it's hard for all of us to get used to not seeing a lot of videos of of my favorite skaters training with their new programs and music. We have been spoiled for many years. The coronavirus has changed so much about sports and the world.

so senior test skates are coming soon
I hope Alena can catch up and regain some fitness, she is clearly out of shape, she could ask Shcherbakovas advise on how to stay lean and fit.

weight is very important to not lose jumps as Eteri pointed out.
Let me remind you that you that Alyona has the best skating skills and very good technique. Why calling Anna for advice then?!? She is much better than Anna (*who has poor skating skills, horrific technique and excessive pre-rotation*)
I cringe when people think that Anna is better than Alyona :(
Why people dislike Alyona? She does not have excessive pre-rotation.

Why calling Anna for advice then?

Most all of the skaters should have called Shcherbakova for advice when the shutdown happened, she had some rotten luck with 2 injuries that took her off the ice for a significant amount of time, 1 of which was a broken leg, and like a year after she broke her leg she was landing quads again (albeit not with a ton of consistency that year) and won multiple competitions including senior Nationals.

Does anyone else think the 3A should collaborate for a Charlie's Angels parody at some point?

Doubt they would be interested in doing it; its been mentioned that they didn't like the nickname. Plus, they aren't training together anymore so unless they skate at the same show in the off-season there would be no opportunity for choreographing it.

Oh, yes, Anna's gorgeous quads of 3.25 rotations in the air, while Alyona rotates 3.50 rotations in the air for her triple axel and gets less points than Anna. :(
