Alina will be hosting Ice Age. It seems that this will make Russian Cup even more unlikely

Does anyone know whether this is the kids version or the adult version? I've never seen the adult version, what type/ages of people even compete? Former figure skaters who never made it to the elite level? Current senior figure skaters? Anyways, I'm glad Alina is getting opportunities like this.

I think that's the adult version. The children version is called "Ice Age. Kids", so that would have been clarified in the article.

I don't really watch this show, but from clips I have seen it's similar to 'Dancing with the stars" - a professional, usually former skater+celebrity.

Personally I've always found it ridiculous how big a deal people are making out of pre-rotated quads when numerous skaters pre-rotate triples just as much, or even more, yet for whatever reason these same people are quiet about that.

Very quiet.

Sophia Samodelkina will not participate in Moscow Championship for Juniors. As explained she won the Test Skates and not obliged to attend the tournament.
Won test skates? I didn't even know it was competition. Staying at the schedule is so limited this season she should skate in the Moscow junior Championship.
Will Kostornaya be really competing for Khrustalny this season? I heard that sports.ru wrote about it

Yes. I think Aliona thought she could just leave even 2 months after the transfer period and there would be no issues. Not the case.

Mhm. Because RusFed always stays true to its own rules. No exceptions. Never.

I mean... I‘m not happy with how chaotic Aliona’s transfer went either but come on, this is ridiculous coming from RusFed who just included 14-year old Valieva in the senior test skates just because they felt like it. Or who let Kolyada change coaches without issue after said transfer period. It‘s almost like they make up their rules as they go along - or at least adapt them to their own needs and wishes...

I had a problem with it too. If Kolyada can, why not Kostornaia? How were their transfers fundamentally different? I'm not saying they both can leave their coaches after transfer window with no consequences, but if you're punishing one, do the same with another.

How are they punishing Alena? I understand it as a formality; the way Evgenia still skates for Sambo, although she doesn’t set a foot there. The difference is going to be some paperwork, if I understood correctly.

I am not familiar with Kolyada’s transfer, but in general, exceptions are made when there are good reasons. Someone from Rusfed recently said they still don’t have the documents for the transfer, so they may be pissed off. Yes, it is a formality, but they should have done it to avoid trouble.

The good news is aliona seems unfazed by all the chaos. :)

Maybe Kolyadas coach was okay with the change outside the transfer period. I'm pretty sure EG is not. ;) Especially considering she just lost the best ladies skater in the world.

I know she‘s not a Russian lady but do we know how Tursynbaeva is doing? I didn’t see her in any of the TeamTutberidze posts, is she training right now?

She's mostly been posting her music on instagram, and the exercise video she did for the Olympic channel back in lockdown mentioned that she had an injury, so your guess is as good as mine. I don't recollect seeing any photos or videos of her on the ice on her instagram.

I saw the videos of her music - she‘s really talented! But I didn‘t know she had (another?) injury, that‘s pretty sad. I thought she would repeat last season’s programs and might be able to compete at Rostelecom considering that she‘s in Russia but if she hasn‘t been training...

Thanks.

She is sort of a Russian Lady. :)

I am super sad about what's happened to her since worlds 2019 when she won the silver and landed a quad the first on the senior level.

I hope lilbet can return. Alena Kanysheva leaving singles for Paris due to injury also hurts.
Figure skating is both a beautiful sport and a brutal sport physically and mentally.

Then why was kolyada allowed to change after the transfer period had closed as well and it seems he had no problems. mabye rusfed doesnt like it that she changed? And who exactly has to bring the transfer papers? Is it alyona herself or since she is underaged still dies it have to be someone else? I heard that the old trainers have to sign something on it is that right? Well mabye thats the problem? That they may have tried to take as much time as they can? Didnt yulia change in the middle of the season all those yearsago?did she have the same problem?

3.) Many of these quads are ugly (or not especially good looking) and receive too many points, for both the attempt itself and in terms of how it impacts choreography. How much value should a barely rotated 4Lutz with 3.25 rotations in the air actually receive in comparison to a glorious, perfectly rotated 3Lutz that has 3.0 rotations completely in the air, showing the quality of ballon and clear revolutions and edges?

Not trying to make a fallacious argument against you in case in turns out sounding like that, but isn't 3.25 the convention? Would you also say 2.25 triples get too much credit against doubles? Both classes of jumps get a significant bump in value compared to the class of jumps a rotation below it. If not, why?

Personally I would just say a barely rotated quad can get 0 GOE and a great triple can get +3-4 GOE. That closes the gap quite a bit, while still accounting for the additional difficulty for even a barely rotated quad.
