I too doubt that Zagitova is returning. She got her first TV gig and also attends university full time. Returning next season is barely a possibility, 1.5 years of skipping competitions, even if domestic/regional ones can't be good for coming back, especially in such competitive field. But I wonder why she went to the training camp and got new programs (as per live training with Daniil). Just for show performances?

either that or maybe she just changed her mind in the last few weeks. who knows.

i wish she would clarify what is going on and if she actually has intentions to return to competition or not. her fans are so confused.

Alina can still return. It is unlikely, but stranger things have happened. To me it really looked like she wanted to skate this season - with her training seriously over the summer and Daniil talking about her programs in a live stream. Maybe something happened or she just changed her mind.

I still hope she comes back for at least one performance - test skates or Japan Open or something similar. Just so she can erase the 2019 GPF FS as her last competitive performance and make it something more fulfilling and triumphant.

Finally, I would like to wish her good luck, no matter what she ends up choosing.

I wonder when they are finally going to tell us the rest of the Russian Cup assignments? The first Cup is just over a week away and we still do not know which assignments the juniors have.

Didn‘t Akatieva mention in an interview that she knows she has the first stage but nothing beyond that? Or am I imagining things? If so, that would mean they gave at least a provisional plan to the athletes...

I would also like to know who‘ll skate at the senior Russian cup events beside the National team. Maybe now that Alina‘s officially not going to test skates, they‘ll fill in the earlier stages at least?

She's 18, 18 year olds change their minds quite frequently - perhaps she started training again and realized that trying to get back to your previous level after a long break is very difficult and needing to come back better than her previous competition form is extremely difficult. At this point she hasn't shown a triple axel or a quad which its looking like those are going to be required elements to some degree in order to get to events like Europeans/Worlds/Olympics after winning everything how many skaters would be content to just float around at only minor competitions?

Sinitsyna is Panovas number 1. I’d say Tarakanova is number 2.
I thought Nastya T was on the rollerblading team now. it's too bad she's not more stable it is really hurt her career and development.
Forget this "season not season", whether Alina will compete next season is the question. Even I am not very optimistic about it.

No one is optimistic that she will return to competitive action. But Alina is not officially retire andis leaving the door open even though it's not open very far. More time doing shows and this TV show for ice age kids the money will be rolling in from future shows and this TV show and all her endorsements and she won't have to suffer at practice and she won't have to cry in practice. But I always hoped Alina would be one EG lady skater who would skate competitively into her twenties. If she chooses not to do so that's okay. I don't blame her at all. Why go through that and all the suffering and potential injuries?

Such is the same for Zhenya... here I was thinking we’d never see a bielmann again. But it may be that a break from training gives an injury proper time to heal, so perhaps this is the cause?

At least for Liza, I want to see the scratch spin gone. Hate it. She is so good, so I don’t know why she cheapens her choreography with 2002 trends.

On the choreography side, apparently Liza took a lot of liberty this time, as in Mishin gave her some more freedom. So idk whether to be scared or happy because I do not know who was originally making some of her choreographic choices.

I know Liza seems to drift to the more “scandalous” images but I’d like to see something a little different on her this season. She has the capacity, and as was said “it’s now or never”

Can’t you still achieve a level 4 if you do the scratch spin as part of your combination spin?
I actually wouldn’t mind her keeping it cuz no one does those headless scratch spins anymore and they can look stunning if done right.

Do we have to tattle like high schoolers about a person that‘s not even here to defend themselves? :scratch2:

In other news, Aliona‘s finally gotten a sponsor! Good for her. :)

Congrats to Alena. This sponsorship is long overdue. I hope there's more to come. This is one of the reasons she went to PA. If she wants to start medical school in a few years she needs to get the money rolling in now. Aliona has certainly earned this sponsorship with hopefully more to come all while still maintaining her very high level as a great skater and as one of the most likable skaters in figure skating.

But at this point I just hope we had some kind of a season where all our favorites can show their talents and put their hard work on great display.

Someone is seriously surprised by the photo of Kostornaia ... it is obvious that his employer had to appear in the center of the image, it is like that for everyone in that camp ... the good thing is that he is keeping his word, he promised publicity and sponsorships and that they are having.

I believe this as well. Apparently she had a new cool SP choreographed, and Samokhvalov also said she trained at Novogorsk as if she was getting ready for Olympics.
The IceAge approached her in spring and she didn’t agree to their offer up until August, so I think she hesitated a lot about what to do this season.
I think she honestly might not know herself what she’s planning long term.

Kostornaya is the most beautiful Russian ladies skater ever - both in skating abilities and looks. I hope that Russian people are proud of her.

This saison will be chaotic because of the covid and we are not sure if there will be the European and world championships.

An event can always be cancelled and it’s frustrating to train and to not be able to compete like last year for the worlds.

I think Alina made her mind to experience different activities. She’s hosting a Tv show with another big shot and honestly I can see her working as a representative for sport tv.

LOL! No. I can show you pages when the Russians are bashing her and her sponsor. :) She is practically insulted and they said she is a serf and sold herself because money means more to her than the sports.

if that's the narrative, i'm interested to know if they say the same of Sasha.

There are people who had bad words on her, too. :( This is not unique among the Russian FS fans. Sometimes they are so cruel and incomprehensible.

She's a cute kid, but I bet the Russian people are also proud of the long and distinguished line of beautiful Russian ice dancers and pairs skaters..(Just saying. ;) )

The roller blading team was just for practice when she couldn't get to an actual ice rink during the shut downs. She is still skating! She's even found a sponsor now. Which probably is much needed considering she's not on a national team right now. I don't know how much hope I have for her success internationally, especially given that there are no Challengers or real GP events this year for her to get herself back in international points, but I just want to see her skate some nice programs now.
