The GP assignments will be announced later this week apparently, does anyone have any last minute prediction for the Russian ladies and the Russian GP? I think that all of the national team members will be there, but who else? Will Evgenia go back to Canada to have an easier time at their GP? Or is there even time for that?

I think it's becoming more and more unlikely that Evgenia will make it back to Canada in time to skate in their GP. Even if she's allowed to return soon, Canada still has very strict quarantine policies for people coming into the country and she would have to have a clear plan to isolate for two weeks. I'm not sure if her team could figure out a plan for her to train during that time that would be in compliance with the restrictions.

LOL! No. I can show you pages when the Russians are bashing her and her sponsor. :) She is practically insulted and they said she is a serf and sold herself because money means more to her than the sports.

These insults should motivate them even more, as happened to Evgheni when he was little boy. They have good training conditions, they have sponsors, so they have to prove that they can be the best.

Someone is seriously surprised by the photo of Kostornaia ... it is obvious that his employer had to appear in the center of the image, it is like that for everyone in that camp ... the good thing is that he is keeping his word, he promised publicity and sponsorships and that they are having.
Well said. but does plushie get a piece of what Aliona earns or is she still on the hook to EG because she's still technically skates for EG and Sambo 70? Oh why oh why do the Russians have to be so confusing. ;)
I believe this as well. Apparently she had a new cool SP choreographed, and Samokhvalov also said she trained at Novogorsk as if she was getting ready for Olympics.
The IceAge approached her in spring and she didn’t agree to their offer up until August, so I think she hesitated a lot about what to do this season.
I think she honestly might not know herself what she’s planning long term.
Alina pulled the plug but hopefully it's just for this confusing may or may not happen season. I really can't blame her after all she's accomplished to train like you're going to have a normal season and then there may not be a season I don't think she wants to do that or risk that.
Kostornaya is the most beautiful Russian ladies skater ever - both in skating abilities and looks. I hope that Russian people are proud of her.
Not only the Russian people are proud of Aliona but Americans too! She she really is her own person and control of her career and destiny. When she left TT there was no looking back.
The roller blading team was just for practice when she couldn't get to an actual ice rink during the shut downs. She is still skating! She's even found a sponsor now. Which probably is much needed considering she's not on a national team right now. I don't know how much hope I have for her success internationally, especially given that there are no Challengers or real GP events this year for her to get herself back in international points, but I just want to see her skate some nice programs now.
It's good to have Nastya back. I hope she can still make strides forward but it's a jungle and Russian ladies figure skating. she needs some good luck and good health. She had neither last year.

I predicted she wouldn't actually show up back when it was announced that she would. Not because I think she won't ever compete again, I believe she genuinely doesn't know if she wants to or not. It's totally understandable to skip this uncertain season while exploring other options. Funnily enough her withdrawing from Test Skates increases my hopes of seeing her compete again. Doing Test Skates with no intention to compete in the Russian Cup would've felt like farewell performances. Withdrawing from Test Skates because she has no intention to compete in the Russian Cup is sensible. Fingers crossed for 2021/22!

I mean, they care the least if she continues or not.
She should've write some words to her fans in the first place.

Maybe she will. And maybe there are things that prevent her from doing open statements. I, even as a fan, am aware that I simply know too few to make conclusions. And definitely don't wanna judge based on what is/is not published on instagram/in the newspapers :)

I was thinking that it might be possible if she left right after test skates, as Skate Canada is not until October 30th, which would give her a month to train after her isolation ended (although two weeks without training would be very non-ideal). But then I realized that she has to compete on the Russian Cup series. Now, if I remember correctly, Evgenia has the first two stages of the Russian cup. This might've been because she was trying to figure out a way to go back to Canada before Skate Canada. However, the second stage doesn't end until October 13th. That would mean that her quarantine wouldn't end until right when Skate Canada was starting. So the only way that that would work out would be if she were to find some way to train under the restrictions. But if you literally can't leave your house, I don't know how that would be possible. Does anyone who lives in Canada have any clarifications of the rules? If you get negative tests, can you end your isolation early? Could she skate in an empty rink somehow? It sucks because the Grand Prix in Canada would be such a better opportunity than the Russian one which is just another Russian nationals.

If I right remember Plushenko "bought" Aliona..Why he would wait money from her?

The Canadian borders are closed until September 30th for foreign non-essential citizens and Canada has extended the deadline each month so far, so I expect them to do that again and to extend it until the end of October. Evgenia said in a very recent interview that she is currently not able to go to Canada due to the closed borders, therefore she will remain in Russia for the mean time (Rika is in the same situation and has been stuck in Switzerland the past month). Even if the boarders would open earlier Zhenya would have had to go through several quarantines if she flew from Russia to Canada and from Canada to Russia for RusNats and co., so she would have lost a month of training time. Remaining in Russia is currently the smartest choice. My personal guess is that she will fly to Canada after RusNats (if the borders are open).
