At this point, I just hope she withdraws. She needs to heal. It's almost obvious that she is on her own. (Even if it's not the case, Mishin is perhaps the only coach in Russia that really knows how to work with "adult and problematic" female skaters (that's not an insult to any coach, it's just my opinion), and obviously he is not an option for her right now. )Her programs have HUGE potential, so she can keep them for next season. Zhenya needs to heal and rest, and then go to Canada when she's able. Obviously, I will.support her no matter what, I'm just worried.
If she has vertebrae degeneration with a nervous root being inflammed/trapped by the injury, one of the only solutions is resting for at least 6 weeks taking opioids and if that doesn’t solve the problem, she can have some corticosteroids injections in the injury site. However, the only permanent solution is surgery, which would probably lead to at least 6 months of total and absolute rest and not skating. Back injuries are the worst.
I still hope it's possible for her to withdraw from the first stage and get a later one.
