What first interview? Based on the 2 provided links via translation he said she was busy with Ice Age, I didn't read anything in those 2 links that says they asked and she rejected; it in fact states they cant call everyone.
Alina herself replied on a question on Instagram. "Alina why you didn't go to the 50-year anniversary of Sambo-70?" Alina: "They didn't call me"

I agree with you. It was a nice gesture to Zhenya who continued to represent Sambo70 even though she was abroad. That being said, it could easily have been any of the athletes @ the club - not sure why its such a big deal that Alina wasn’t specifically invited to it (from what he said, he didn’t invite anyone).

Nope, she wasn't invited, by her own words. Even Layshev comments it the way that she wasn't invited (explicitely), but she is always welcomed (damage control). Alina wasn't the only one of the big names (olympic medalists) of the school, who somehow didn't get the invitation.

So where did he lie? He said they cant call everyone; he said she's busy, perhaps they erroneously assumed she was too busy to attend. She even corroborated that they didnt call her.

I repeat my initial assessment that it seems much is being made about nothing (based on the provided articles).

Are you kidding me? Ok, whatever I'm not gone spent any more time on this.

(...) it in fact states they cant call everyone.
Delicious. That means nothing else than that Alina is "everyone". Fully complies with Eteri's credo: After the medal ceremony you are nothing again.

He first said he wanted both Alina and Zhenya to raise the flag together but Alina was busy and couldn't do it.
Then someone asked Alina why she wasn't at the event and she replied that she wasn't invited.
Then Layshev says that Alina can come whenever she wants without needing to be invited.
Alina was at Sambo today, training, so, clearly, she just wasn't invited to the flag rasing thing.

The problem isn't about who raised the flag, just Layshev making unnecesary comments about it.

I’m with you, but that phrase means something completely different. People keep mentioning it with the twisted interpretation, and I’ve just recently explained the correct translation.

I think the “event” consisted out of 3 boys marching and 1 Evgenia in training gear easing the flag and 1 Laishev standing there. I wouldn’t say who was or wasn’t invited based on what I saw, it didn’t feel like a serious event with invitations.

but the fact that he lied and kept trying to do damage control is utterly embarrassing (and hilarious) to watch. Pal just can’t help but make a fool of himself.
In any way, Alina should’ve been invited, she’s the most famous and decorated athlete of the school.

I realize that the sentence in Eteri's case is not meant to be derogatory. I ironically brought it into play here because it was almost imposed. 😇

Yes, it's not a formal event or anything, but I don't think Evgenia just walked out of the building and Layshev was like... "Oh, finally, one of our students shows up... Evgenia, come here, help us raise the flag." 😅

Btw., watching US test skates with top American skaters, where there was no 3-3 basically apart from urred Bradie and now Elizaveta Medvedeva, who transferred to "Moskvich" from "Khrustalnyi" (says a lot about her perspectives) landind clean 3-3, I again realized how tough is to break through in Russia as female single skater. 😯

The American skaters are not 13-14 years old so I don't know what you compare exactly? Bradie at least made it to GPF las season while Russian over 18 didn't. And if there was not Alina there, even more than 15.

I was also surprised seeing the performances and scores of the medalists at Nebelhorn and thinking that it's a very different level of competition compared to what the russians have to do to get those placements in local comps. 😳

Elizaveta Medvedeva is 15 and probably already put aside as a lesser talent, while those American girls are perceived as the best in the country and potential Olympic prospects. That's the striking fact, I'm comparing.

Didn’t Bradie actually beat Alina at GPF, and Mariah beat Alina in one of the events in the LP.
