Does the layback spin have a higher base value than the combination spin or other spins? I’m curious because why is evgenia doing it again? I thought the layback was no longer required in junior or senior ladies starting in 2015/16 season but maybe I’m wrong?

What spins are less strenuous on your back?
Layback spin is a type of a upright spin and has a little bit higher base value than it and other two types of basic position spins, as a sit spin and camel spin. In a short programme for example skaters must do three types of spin: 1) spin in one position (from those three - USp/LSp, CSp and SSp) usually with the change of foot, 2) flying spin (one of those three with a flying entrance) which has a little bit higher base value than a spin without flying entrance and 3) combination spin which includes combination of those three basic positions and as that has the highest base value of all the other type of spins. All types of spins can be 'painful' for your back, the Bielman position probably the most, but it is not required anymore. But for example, Zhenya also had problems with her sit spins, so it is hard to combine when you don't have much to choose. From page 15 you can see examples of spins positions and choose which one is the least strenuous on back  probably the upright straight spin https://www.isu.org/figure-skating/.../24781-tphb-single-skating-2020-21-final/file
