Maybe in those competition she was the best spinner. Not here, sorry.
Im pretty sure levels and GOEs are supposed to be based on what the skater doing them does and not graded on a curve of "well everyone else was worse than her"

Just look at her spins at the Test Skates and not at some old protocol. No way such a spins would get level 4 with average GOE +4.

I'm aware I was responding to your remark that maybe she had the best spins at those past competitions.

It will be interesting to see if Trusova gets the bonus points for spins because if we based on what the skaters competing in the stage 2 have done in the past, there should be skaters more deserving before Trusova gets the bonus points. We'll see.

Just Russian competitions
Actually I’m pretty sure it happens at domestic competitions within several federations. I can’t recall the specifics but I’ve seen North American events do similar things to encourage certain skill sets. This is especially true at lower level competitions That get far less attention.

Yes, you are correct. There are bonuses at novice competitions in the USA, but the OP was asking about Russian national competitions vs International competitions. It isn't seen in international competitions.

Is there something else besides Lvl4 to get a bonus for a spin? I thought not all Lvl4 spins get a bonus, I may be wrong though.

Looking at the protocols I think the rule is: Level 4 spins (and steps?) combine with min +4 GOE across the board (or maybe it is average GOE of +4 and higher - i'm not quite sure is it one way or another, but i've never saw the spin with a bonus if one of the judges grade it with +3 in the protocols. All in all, it is not easy to get it, i would say. In stage 1 of Russian cup only Akatieva and Shcherbakova got them for some of their spins)

Seems that people should be finally explained that Mafia is the name of the cat in once pretty popular hungarian TV animation series "A Mézga család különös kalandjai", in english "Fantastic Adventures of Family Mézga" ;) (it could be very loosely compared to TV series like Simpsons or Futurama).

If Anna's fan of those TV series, the more I am fan of her because I absolutely love it since childhood.

I hope I eat my words, but I don't think Sasha is at the position to land more than 3 quads. The 4T that Valieva landed in test-skates looked so easy, so if the first 4T was just nerves then I see her neutralising Sasha's jumps. The PCS and B points would be too much to handle.

If Kamila misses 1 of the quads and Sasha lands 3 then I see her winning. Does anyone know if there is a televised practice today?
The 4T+3T that Sasha landed in test skates looked easy too (even easier, maybe). Sasha's other 4T had a hand-down, but the air position was alright. 4Lz fell because she was a bit forward on landing. Kamila's landed 4T was good, but other 4T was too off-axis to save from falling.

Based on their past quad attempts, I think Sasha might be more likely to save a non-ideal jump with a 3-turn/step-out/hand down compared to Kamila (but of course if she attempts more quads/3A she would have a higher likelihood of falling). Agree that 1 successful quad would lose against 3, although I think Sasha and Kamila would be fairly evenly matched if they went with their test skate layouts (IMO a well-executed 4Lz might outweigh spins/favourable PCS, based on men's events). Hoping that both skate clean as possible so we can find out!
