I think I'm in the same boat as most posters here in that I agree with the overall ranking, but not the scores. I actually think Sasha's score was appropriate looking at her scores last year and considering the big step out and hand down on the 3A. And like I said, I do agree with her being in 3rd. Kamila and Daria were clean, she wasn't, and that's just how it is. That being said, the 5 and 10 point gaps between her and them are far too high in my opinion. But besides all of that, Sasha was beautiful today and I'm proud of her. And that dress :love2:

Daria was lovely and she's certainly come a long way since junior test skates. I'm still not a huge fan of this program, she is capable of so much more artistically. Her dress was one of my favorites as well.

I'll be the first to say that I absolutely love Kamila's short program and it's already one of my favorite programs of the year. Personally, I think she performed it better at test skates though. And that dress is...not it. It'd be so much better if the skirt wasn't as long, but oh well. I still enjoyed her today and I'm very interested to see what'll happen in the free tomorrow.

Besides the top three, Stasya was such a nice surprise! I was so glad to see her skate so well after all of her jump struggles last year. I'm glad her coaching change has worked out for her!

Personally I would've had Kamila around 78, and Sasha and Daria around 76 ish. Maybe Daria and Kamila two points lower if I wanted to knock them just for being juniors, but I don't like the wait-your-turn rhetoric. The gap between Kamila and Daria is too big and the gap between Kamila and Sasha is even worse.
If these were the actual scores given, no one would be complaining.

Sasha's skating is nowhere near Kamila's no matter how often we would refer to "junior" and other similar terms.

Last season the topic was "Trusova is just about jumps". Now that she left Eteri the choir is very different. Familiar vibes....
I can agree actually that Valieva does show better qualities than Trusova - my judgment of Valieva's presentation wasn't related to Trusova, maybe it wasn't clear. I do still think the gap is a bit much - though yes, Valieva does deserve a lead. If Trusova had delivered, she should have led.

For the second part, I'm not sure everyone is singing that tune. Some, maybe. But mostly I would say it's about the benefit of doubt most national events tend to grant to their skaters on levels and PCS and GOE, that some feel was given to Valieva but not Trusova.

Haven't posted in a while, but have to throw my two cents in here, as I'm a bit disappointed.

I like all the Russian ladies, but Sasha is definitely my fav, she just has that it factor to me. And not just for the jumps, like the whole package. I could watch her programs all day and not get bored, which I know is contrary to most. So personally, I find her artistic and smooth, I think her PCS are quite good. I think you can't make a direct comparison with her skating as with Kamila, Daria, and Anya because they have a very different style than Sasha, and it seems most people prefer their style over Sasha's, including the judges. I'm happy the 3A and coaching team are working out for her, but I just wish more people would see her how I do, as I think she is lovely and deserves a bit better.
Side note, I was surprised to see such hate on her dress, I thought she looked like a little garden fairy princess. I liked it, but one of my favorite colors is also green, so maybe that's why.

I was very proud of Dasha today! She's another skater I really like and I would love to see her improve this season and slide onto that Olympic team. She just has beautiful lines and extension and a passion that I haven't really seen come through in other skaters. I am so glad she hit all the jumps so effortlessly, she needs to keep that up and continue to skate clean to boost her reputation even more. Overall it was a great first outing in senior and I can't complain about her scores. Dress was also nice, seems like she always end up with a red dress each season, but this one was a bit unique.

And Kamila. I've said it before, but I just don't see in her what everybody else does. I think my problem is that she's almost "too flexible" for me. I think the jumps look strange when she either intentionally or unintentionally ends up doing a spiral out of them instead of a normal checkout. It just takes away from her jumps for me. I also think her jump technique is a bit wonky. Her spins are great, that is where she shines and she totally deserved the bonuses. And as far as PCS goes, I am not sure if I was watching the same skater as the judges? How do you give a junior basically perfect scores, 10s??? Her skating just looks juniorish to me, still too many extensions, less expression and poise than Daria, her movements look a bit rushed and all over the place to me. Personally, I don't think she deserved the score she got, I felt like the top three should have been much closer. I know the bonuses change things, but to me the top three were all pretty leveled and could have fell in any order with very similar scores. And I know I'm being pretty down on Kamila, but that dress did not help the performance, fingers crossed they put her in something better for the long.

I am immediately fired for unprofessionalism when they catch me automatically giving 1.00s in PCS to anybody who skates to Blues for Klook.
Even Sui/Han....? I would personally aim for Moulin Rouge, Big Spender, R&J,and Despacito......no one who skates to these songs could get more than a 2 in any PCS category.

I see where you're coming from!

Personally, Moonlight Sonata, Blues for Klook and I suppose Despacito (though it's not quite a warhorse...and it better not become one) are first on the hit list.

And Scheherazade, but that's only because I can't spell it.

Romeo and Juliet is on thin ice depending on which part of the soundtrack is used.

Swan Lake, despite being a warhorse, is forgiven on account of the fact that it slaps.

I am so very sorry for Sasha. Having landed her first 3A in a competition, even if imperfect, she should have ended this competition radiant and smiling, not crying. It should have been her day to be happy and not the one to be put down. The scoring has been just ridiculous and I will never understand why these judges have done it to her. I just hope she can gather all her strength again, come out tomorrow and TEAR THEM ALL TO PIECES!

I think it's clear that fed bets big on Valieva. They even gave her an higher score than Shcherbakova.
They are closely watching Usacheva too. She will also be 15yo during olympic season. And something tells me that there is an ultra C in the making.

The girls are in good shape. I did not expect such a good skate from Stasya, this was probably the best skate I've seen from her. Frolova was also lovely.

Sasha landed the 3A :cheer2: Yeah, there was a stepout, but she's still so good.

Kamila, and especially Daria showed exquisite skating today as well. But I have to say I feel their scores were a bit generous, compared to Sasha.
