It was, but the point still remains, especially as it was before he'd made the world podium. Trusova's very young but a known name and a recognisable, entertaining character type, so unless it is pretty dire, people should buy and read it. Publishing is always a crap shoot, but were I in a publisher's marketing division with an eye to the bottom line, of all the young Russian girls I'd probably aim for Medvedeva or Trusova, even though neither is a personal favourite.
Exactly, but this book is for commercial reasons, not charity, in which case, why not wait until you can tell the story of how Sasha got to the Olympics and maybe even won there? or how she lost her first chance at a Worlds gold, because of the pandemic but then finally redeemed herself in some other competition and finally got her much awaited first international senior gold?

I don't know, my point is, the timing seems weird and if this were an illustrated children's book or something like that it would make a lot more sense to release it now, why not? But from what we've seen, it's not that, it's just a regular bio written by a journalist and in interview form, so the only thing that seems clear is that her team is riding on her current reputation for profit reasons and not much else is going on with that.

Anyway, I don't want to make anyone here angry. This is just my opinion, after all. If someone disagrees and thinks this a great book idea, good for you... Buy it, read it and then give us a review!

2. Her skating skills shouldn't have been 9.40. Anna does a wonderful job of emoting and captivating the audience, but she is relatively slower on ice, and her step sequence, at spots, feels labored (though this is partially the fault of the bad choreography). Her edges could be better too.
Slower than whom?

Daria makes me somewhat confused. I can see that she's a beautiful skater, but I just don't feel it... Perhaps it has to do with her programs, I do hope she gets some extra attention next year. She is deservedly in the lead, IMO. As for Tuktamysheva and Shcherbakova, eh. I don't think the point difference is large enough to warrant such a debate. The only thing I would change in the scoring in just some extra negativer GOE for Anna's combo, because the turn + the standstill felt distracting. I'd give it a -2, which wasn't very different from what the judges picked. I do think her Lutz edge was better here than at the first stage, though!

I am also thrilled that Liza jumped a 3Lz-3T, even with the 3T being called (deservedly) UR. Can't wait to see what it will mean for her FS, and I hope she goes for the quad if she feels she has a good chance of getting it clean.
I also get this with Daria. I can see she has good skating skills, good jumps except for the sometimes inside sometimes flat lutz, good spins, nice extension in her body. But I just find her very one-note. I think she's expressive in one very specific type of music (even then I'm starting to find that it looks empty) and that she just doesn't really feel her music overall. I just find her a bit boring 🤔

I suspect it might be because the book would get popular if Sasha makes it to the Olympics, or even wins? I don't know. Karen Chen releasesd her autobiography the season before the olympics, which I also thought was strange, but maybe it's a book marketing strategy

Speaking pragmatically, waiting to cash in on an expected crowning glory is never ever a good idea .... what happens if the glory eludes you?

Exactly. If she doesn't get the expected reaults, at least this book is a glimpse of the road anyway, which - given her personality - should appeal to a lot of young girls right now. If she does... volume 2 ahoy!

So for today, Tuktamysheva with one or even two triksels against Anna's one, two quads?

Skating with a plaster, does that reward a bonus for heroism?

Seriously, Tuktamysheva's only feature is her triksel and the fact that she is still competing at her age.
The features of Shcherbabokova and Usachyova are their complete programs, thought through down into the smallest details and maxed out to the limit under the current rules. Hence their disappointment over 'not delivering' this to their own sense of pride and perfection.

"give the judges no reason for deduction, no reason at all" and your scores will turn out fine

Does Mishin still live in the 6.0 age?

Tuktamysheva has the final starting number today, so it is all or nothing to get above those Krystal Kids, one even an international junior still.

Tuktamysheva's dress is the same dress from before, they modified it. It's great that they avoided it going to waste.

They dyed it? That's pretty cool. And the dress was gorgeous...I was bummed when I heard they were changing the costume, but when I saw her yesterday I loved it! Makes sense now, illusion fabric aside the original one is really flattering and totally suits Liza :)

Alas I will not able to watch the ladies FS live, but I look forward to catching up on it afterwards.

Not necessarily. Yuzuru's first one came out in 2012 when he was what, 17?

Comes down to if the publishers think people will pay for and read it. They obviously do.
17 is too young too, even if it’s for charity, just imo. Not that I care, people should do what they want. Still seems like it’s too early.

I wonder what was the performance that drew you into figure skating for you all? Mine was Liza's Exhibition program in 2011, and it is still one of my favourite performances from her.

Since you ask, for me it was the battle between Brian Joubert's Matrix program and Evgeni Plushenko's Tribute to Nijinsky at European's 2004. Alas, both of them are not Russian ladies :slink:

I wonder if in the long term it is wise for Plushenko to voice everytime and in such a public way his displeasure towards the judges. After all, judges are public officials recognized by the federation and by saying that they aren't doing their job right he is basically telling the federation that its official are incapable of doing their jobs. If I were the federation and the judges I would be quite pissed off but maybe things work differently in Russia. I only hope that in the long run he doesn't reach the point when his skaters are penalized for his outbursts.

My take on yesturdays skating.

Daria really did have a great skate and since she is my favorite Eteri girl im glad she did well. Overall I felt like her score was fair but apart from that I would have given the Lutz an e and not only an !.

Anna overall a good skate but not as good as last time. The error on the combo really was a strange one and I think she lost a bit of confidence there. I must say im not a fan of this program. I feel like the first part of the program with the 2A and the 3F is exactly the same as last years program. Same steps same transitions same ordder of things. Its not that the skating or coreoraphy is necessarily bad but it just feels so uninspired to me to do it that similair. I have seen a lot of people saying that Anna should have an ! or e on the 3Lz but I dont see it (and I watched th video in 0.25 speed). She rocks from a verry clear outside to a slight outside which is a common technique and nothing against the rules even if I personally prefer the techniqe of those that dont rock in this way. Her getting higher PCS this time than last time is just strange. Last times performance was clearly better than this and therefore she sould have lower PCS this time.

Lisa had such a good performance here but there are a lot of minor mistakes. The 3T was at least to me vissibly under even in real time and the call and GOE reduction was justified at least to me. I know some people think she should get higher GOE on her jumps because they have such good technique and height etc. But for positive bullets she gets (good height and distance, good body position and maybe effortless) +2 or+3 (not take off and landing since the landing is clearly under, no transitions and there is nothing there to particularly match the music). Then she gets called ur -2 or -3 and long setup that disrupts the program -1 or -2 thus we end up on -1 which is what all judges gave her.
She loses 2 levels on the layback which I think is the dip into the spin isnt deep enough and that the haircutter is only held 1.5 revolutions. Thus she gets the side feature and the biellman which gives level 2.
On the combination spin she aims for bullet and intermidiate position on the first foot which she hits and then all three base positions and the upright variation on the second foot. The problem here is that she doesnt get the sit on the second foot since it isnt low enough therefore she only gets the upright variation on this foot.
The stsq im not good enough at judging so im going to trust the judges here.
I dont want this to come off as me hating on Lisa there where many things I liked about this program. As a program I think its one of the best shes had in years. Good 3A, good 3F without edge issues! the flying camel in the beginning was really good as well (It made me think that maybe Lisa wouldnt lose points on bad spinns this year but sadly the others wherent as good).

Samodurova and Guliakova just havent got "it" for me there is nothing there to draw me in unforturnately. They both have good qualities and I think that in generall the judging here was fair. Only thing to add here is that if Daria gets e on her Lutz (which I think she should) both of these ladies should get that as well.

last thing to add is to wich all ladies good luck for todays free skate!

Probably not, but to be honest who doesn't want to see the Russian Figure Skating Fed getting told off? They've done some inexplicable things over the years...it's probably a bit personal...the Fed threw Plushy under the bus after Vancouver and I'm pretty sure the result was that he's the only figure skater I know of who was suspended not for doping, or breaking the law, but for skating in a show.
