? she just got PCS higher than Maya - if that's not a bonus, then I don't know what is
Funny joke. Who is next? Maybe Sadkova should receive more PCS than Trusova simply because she is from Khrustalny? I want to remind you that Sasha got absolutely the same PCS as at Euro, and I don’t want to ask you about last year's Maya PCS

what I meant was that if you take any judge - but don't tell them that Sasha is a senior and Maya is a junior - no way Sasha would get PCS higher than Maya; that bonus
I have to agree ...Maia SP is very good and she deserves PCs.. but maia won't have the PCS because they already gave them to anna, daria, kamila ... Maia is the one if she doesn't get the 4 that always will have lower PC because seh isn't the first choice of eteri's team
So sasha will have better PCs

Aliona's PCS Scoring in SP

Looks like there was an international panel today.
All that while some other girls are scoring in this competition better that they ever had even with a domestic panel (meaning it's not true that judges are strict)

Now: i want you to leave skaters comparisons aside and concentrate on Aliona SS.
Skating skill is a very specific PCS category (you can see a definition Here )
It's execution of basic skills close to perfection but you either have flow or not, you either know how to accelerate effortlessy with you crossover or no, you either go deep with your age and turn with perfect flawless footwork or not.

9.54 vs 9.05 is over 5% difference or 2 steps in the voting scale that goes in .25 increments.
The same panel who judged her the best in the world in basic skills 10 months agois now looking at an awkard skater.
This does not make sense to me.

I have to agree ...Maia SP is very good and she deserves PCs.. but maia won't have the PCS because they already gave them to anna, daria, kamila ... Maia is the one if she doesn't get the 4 that always will have lower PC because seh isn't the first choice of eteri's team

brother!
so I'm not the only one seeing a PCS bonus concentrated on the 3 potential medal/National selection girls from TT.
I may be wrong of course but to date this is my perception

I've just watched Alena and Sasha. I prefer Sasha's music, choreography and dress and I think she looks better and better on ice, nice flow and more emotion. Her program gave me some Machida vibes.

Alena is Alena 😊 This girl can do anything she wants on ice, she owes it. She seemed to enjoy being on ice again.

1pt in sp is something Sasha could easily make up in LP with her tech content. It's hers to lose, she just needs to stay calm and focus.

Speaking of calm and focussed, Plushenko seems to have got a hold of his nerves. He seems much more relaxed than before and much less anxious.

I really hope Sasha won't go for 4 quads tomorrow. I fear she will go out of steam and then the mistakes comes.
But knowing Sasha, she probably will. Strategically though, if she really wants to win, she can land 3 quads clean and get 6 bonus points and be unbeatable. But maybe it's not about winning for Sasha, maybe it's about quadding.

I have to agree ...Maia SP is very good and she deserves PCs.. but maia won't have the PCS because they already gave them to anna, daria, kamila ... Maia is the one if she doesn't get the 4 that always will have lower PC because seh isn't the first choice of eteri's team

Well, Sasha scored higher than Daria in PCs both in short and free at stage2, so by this logic top 3 in Russia are Anna, Kamila and Sasha.
However, the situation makes me unhappy, in terms of judges boxing themselves up in PCS. I guess we’ll see where they stand against one another in PCS at GP stage.

There's overscoring everywhere, but Anna/Kamila in their SP it looked like the style suited their capabilities. With Aliona she's being so angelic in her movements despite what this program demands. I don't think Aliona is used to being explosive in her movements. The key example is between the flying camel (FCSp4) and 3F-3T. That was a massive moment and tempo change but she hardly did anything with it, I hope someone is looking at this - I think the choreography is maybe an issue there too. So, given all that I get Anna and Kamila having higher PCS for the SP.

Just thinking about what an Ashley Wagner would do, or a Radionova, leaves so much to be desired....

About doing possible 4Lo Sasha answered:
- You will see soon by yourself, whatever...

I bet the 1st attempt will be made at GP Rostelekom. Soon enough to try to capture the ISU approvement...

Thought Sasha's spins looked great today. Never really noticed them one way or another in the past, but they stood out to me today and I was impressed. Good for her for the level 4 on her steps too, hopefully she can consistently hit that because those are easy points she needs.

Was a little surprised by Alyona's PCS, was expecting all 9s for her. And along with others, I'm not happy with the GOE on the combo, if it was a different skater they would've gotten many minuses across the board. Sasha lost a decent amount of GOE on her 3A stepout, as expected, so I'm not sure why Alyona's wasn't comparable.

Anyways, its nice to see the top skaters so tight, unlike in some of the other events. Makes for an entertaining fight tomorrow, though I think its Sasha's to lose and I have a strong feeling she is going to skate clean.

I completely agree the step-out shouldn't get positive GOE, but I love how when these types of mistakes happen to other skaters there's so much defense to do with how the GOE is saved by the quality of their jump, and how they're hitting all the other GOE bullets.

Don't know if anyone noticed but Aliona and Daria made the exact same mistake with the 3F-3T. Similarities keep coming. :ROFLMAO:

3Lz is a revelation for Aliona, even less prerotation and a better edge. Almost close to 90 degrees take-off I think.

The Top three tomorrow is a lock I think

But the battle for 4th-9th place is still open and anything can happen.
I predict that the ones ending up below 7th will have a hard time to qualify to RusNats

4. Samodurova 67.16 - Scored like this at Minsk but then had a terrible free. Can probably afford to drop to 7th.
5. Nugumanova 64.39 - Can she hold on to this it would be a great result for her and she might be clear for Nats.
6. Konstantinova 62.60 - Can probably afford a drop to 7th.
7. Tsibinova 62.33 - Borderline result. Would be safer if she can climb.
8. Tarakanova 58.44 - Will probably not be enough, needs to climb.
9. Shulskaya 57.98 - Definitely needs to climb.
10. Kostina 54.97 - Outsider that might stir things up a bit.

Sasha stood out for me as well. I really enjoyed her skate despite the 3A problem. I think she tried her best today to interpret the music and was more invested in her extensions. However, I have the feeling that her SP is a little bit too crammed right now. For someone who is weak at performance, all the messy steps and arm movements seem to overwhelm her a little bit, or at least don't bring her as high points as they should have. Maybe less is more? As soon as she starts feeling comfortable, they could re-introduce them.

i’ll start with Maiia! i’ve never been her fan and i haven’t enjoyed most of her skating in the past, but she really owed her SP today. I love the opening. Using her long lines to make abstract but gorgeous lines and she definitely improved some of the stiffness she had in her body before! It’s a really nice program for her and she performs it well. It gets kind of meh/samey towards the end, but it’s a big step forward.

Sasha’s improvements are quite visible. She’s still not the most graceful or artistic, but you can see how they’re working on her lines and fluidity in her movements. I’m just impressed every time she performs this SP because it usually takes a lot of time before you can see visible improvements in someone’s skating. Good job to her and Plushy. The 3A is almost there, I honestly thought today might be the day she landed it cleanly! Almost there! Interpretation is something she loses as soon as she starts jumping, and the middle of the program seems a bit choppier and stiffer than it should be, but regardless the improvements are there, and they’re visible, and she’ll keep improving, too!

I loved the beginning of Aliona’s program. She was SELLING IT. One of my criticisms last year was that I thought she had lost some of her interpretation while training and doing bigger elements so it’s nice to see that side of her coming back. Everything was a little shakier than usual from Aliona today. Ina bauer not as extended (2A still absolutely amazing though), Lutz was definitely inside (comments here are saying different, maybe I should take another look!) Flip was huge, but the toe was an issue. Spins were slow and not as extended as usual, but there are all growing pains she can get through. There’s still room for a 3A looking at her 2A, and her jumps are still huge so she can clean them up. Spins probably just need more training. Not a fan of the StSq or music choice, but her skating is still fabulous. She’s so fluid and looks so beautiful just stroking and doing anything. I do wish she would relax her shoulders and neck, it can be a liiiittle distracting, but that’s being nitpicky.

I think both Sasha and Aliona were a bit overscored, especially the latter considering the mistakes, but the FS will be a different story because everyone is going to have to deliver. I hope Aliona has enough training to do a clean LP and maybe clean up some of those mistakes from the SP.

Wow this stage is so packed and there's so much on the line. Why can't Samodurova, Konstantinova, Nugumanova, Tarakanova, Tsibinova and Shulskaya all qualify? I mean, they all deserve it!
It might come down to if Medvedeva and Sinitsyna get free tickets to RusNats or not. If they don't, or if they are still injured, all the ladies above might make it.
