2020-21 Russian Pairs' figure skating

Can I just say how incredibly impressed I am with Mishina/Galliamov. Beautiful twist, tough 3S+3S, some crazy transitions. Like there is so much content and details. His jumps and her throws need a bit more stability and some of the lift transition positions need cleaning up, but WOW this is already so good. My favourite program to come out of Russia in quite a while, and World Champion worthy stuff. Their SP is also nice and fun too, with great personality. He also gives me Eric Radford vibes in that his flexibility and skating skills are on point which gives them much better emotional range and versatility when it comes to transitions/spread eagles/etc.

How much training time did B/K lose when Dmitri was ill? Didn't he have it only like a month ago? Because they pretty much had issues on all their throws (the one in the SP only was successful because she saved it) and lost a level in the death spiral.

Considering that it was overall not bad but hopefully they are more full strength at the next event and can fully move on

B/K are a top pair no doubt, they will get beck into their usual form soon.

A lot ! It is at 2 weeks of quarentine. They drop at 3 stage so between 3 stage and 4 stage probably they didn't practice anything if you ad the dead of the husband of Lady M. ( they looked very emotional )...

I think Starla16 has long been predicting M/G potential placement as #1 Russian pair, and no one believed her. Well, look at us now 😂

on a serious note, we need to wait till RusNats, but M/G are surely well prepared for this season.
don't wake up Starla 16.... I was afraid come here because of that.
I think Lady M. got the perfect program for M/G... the programs that can make them the number 1/2/3 ( at this point is open season for the number 1)...

Sasha G also was Covid positive about the same time, perhaps even a little later. So I don't think it was the main factor. There was much to deal with for them this week, what's with the tragedy in the team. Mitya looked pretty emotional, so it could have been difficult to keep it in check. I am sure they will be back with all guns firing at Rostelecom. It will be such an exciting event, also with Dasha & Denis in the mix. I will be in such a dilemma, because I really love them all :love2:

Dasha and Denis have withdrawn. So far no news why and who is going to substitiute them.
He might still have his knee issues, about which spoke after their latest Russian cup stage. I wish him recovery for the Nationals.

Oh no, I didn't know 😭 I hope they will be back at 100% for the Nationals!

No sasha G was positive in the 2 stage of russia ( 10-13 october) when they withdraw. Dima was in the 3 stage 23 October .. so by the dates of the stages .. if they did the quarentine ... M/G begin training at least even in october... and B/D probably didn't train since october ( or maybe one or two days because the quarantine would be 10-14 days so they should had begin at 4 of November by calculation)... in high competition that means a lot

Please, someone tell me that Boikova-Kozlovskii are going to sit out Rostelecom. Kozlovskii looked so unwell in Kazan, he needs to recover. 😢

That. Not to mention Sasha, Dasha, Dima and Mitya......
Ive spent enought time on this forum to know that
Sasha= Alexander/Alexandra
Dasha= Daria
Dima= Dimitry
Mitya im not sure of is that also dimitry
Sonya =Sofia
Anya =Anna
They are standard nicknames. I assume they are easier to say in russian then the original name or something like that

As expected, Yasmina Kadyrova/Ivan Balchenko are the replacements for P/K in Rostelecom. Yasmina is registered in the ISU as "Iasmina Kadyrova" along with "Iuliia Artemeva." This should be a bloodbath .

I wonder who they will send when Panfilova/Rylov withdraw. I hope for Kostiukovich/Briukhanov but I don't think they have plans to compete senior this year, so they will probably send Mukhametzianova/Mironov even if Ko/Br would score higher than M/M and Ka/Ba

We've seen M/G, B/K, and T/M so now I am dying to see the top 3 junior teams battle it out! Please Polina and Alexei!

I don't know, they seem pretty ambitious. I get a feeling that they might, so that's one more junior/second tier team that gets to go. There isn't much time left to withdraw, so I assume that he is going to fight through and compete :o

Well, I am really worried about him getting better. They are absolutely stunning, so surely, one competition to regain health can’t be held against them? Aww...

Mishina/Galliamov are talented for sure. But it often takes someone with great ability to help bring out that talent fully. And especially in pairs, the music, choreo and the connection on the ice are all very important. Tamara Moskvina is a giant at developing great pairs teams: picking the right music, inventive moves, and unique choreography are her specialty. Plus, I'm sure she gives her athletes something else in their training that helps boost their confidence on competitive ice.

Previously, I have been lukewarm to M/G because as with quite a few Russian pairs teams, they tend to have the technical aspects down pat, but without much apparent connection or personality (of course except for the great Russian teams like Gordeeva/Grinkov, Berezhnaya/Sikharulidze, Tat/Max, the Protopopovs, Dmitriev & partners, and even Kavaguti/Smirnov at their best -- and it was Moskvina who molded K/S). When I saw M/G at the recent Russian Test Skates, I noticed that Moskvina is now in their corner as a main coach. She gave them something they can build on with their new programs. It's obvious that they have raised their level. M/G and B/K will surely be pushing each other, and we'll see how it goes. Skating is about luck and about things coming together at the right time, right moment too.
