I wonder why this name (and others like Elizaveta, Anna, etc.) is so popular.About 60% of them are Sofias![]()
True, but still very impressive given her height and body proportions. She seems to be a gritty girl, I like that a lot about her.Great but it means very little since she has yet to land a single quad in combination
Agreed. All these training vids we see about quads being landed means absolutely nothing. It almost always turns out that it is not that easy to translate that into competition.Great but it means very little since she has yet to land a single quad in combination
I am liking this#TeamTutberidzeForProgress' younger group dancing their hearts out in Aleksey Zheleznyakov's dance class:
Alisa Dvoyeglazova, Adeliya Petrosyan, Dar'ya Sadkova, Veronika An, Lyubov Rubtsova in the front row
Vsevolod Knyazev, Mark Lukin and Arseniy Fyodotov in the second row
and some young kids that not yet quite are in tune in the rear

There should be a new competitive figure skating discipline: team floor dance.#TeamTutberidzeForProgress' younger group dancing their hearts out in Aleksey Zheleznyakov's dance class:

I mean, competitive dance is definitely a thing, just not necessarily a figure skating discipline. There should be a new competitive figure skating discipline: team floor dance.

When there came the videos with Young You's quads from training about two years ago, people applauded to it, even though she didn't land it in competition. Some predicted the end of the era of russian dominance. In the RLT. So, I think we can celebrate Maiia's succesful attempts even though still in training. In the RLTGreat but it means very little since she has yet to land a single quad in combination
IMO they are equal with Adeliya, but it's a dance, I hardly recognize whether the key points should receive Y or NI am liking this
And Dasha Sadkova is so the right girl leading the show. Front and center. She was the best last time around and she's the best here. Zhelezniakov chooses wisely![]()

I like your power of positivity sir! When there came the videos with Young You's quads from training about two years ago, people aplauded to it, even though she didn't land it in competition. He choreographed Misha's, Liza's and Lupolover's FS this season. Averbukh has many ice shows and projects across the years, a busy man.Does anyone know why Averbukh doesn't choreograph that many competitive programs anymore? He has done so many iconic works (W.E, Schindler's List, Nocturne, Exogenesis etc.) On a related note, did Averbukh choreograph his students's programs on Ice Age Kids? Because I really liked Kulikova's programs on that show.
A clean 3 quad program is extremely difficult, even for Sasha. Last season they tried this strategy - either GPF, Nats, or Euros and it was still a disaster. And she didn't have any room for mistakes, so that probably put her off.
It's interesting how the 3 were able to add quads/3As faster than Sasha was able to improve her spins and PCS.
It's interesting when you compare Trusova and Shcherbakova.I believe Shcherbakova has mentioned that its difficult to do 3 quads clean in 1 program, and Daniil has mentioned the issue with more than 3 disrupting the program
I don't think it's all that surprising, its much easier to learn something new rather than unlearn how you've done something and re-learn it a different way and then in a high-pressure situation not revert back to muscle memory of the original way you learned to do something. I think her problem is that perhaps Trusova was lulled into a bad mindset from her first 2 years as a junior where she was able to mess up on her quads and still win most everything because she was either the only 1 competing quads or was competing the most, now her competition has caught up to her and in big competitions she doesn't have that security blanket that she can just throw all the quads she wants - mess up on them and still win.
I wasn't really trying to compare Shcherbakova and Trusova to each other in that post, but really they can only be compared to each other when talking about their approach because as of right now they were the only skaters to be consistently putting out quads and the only seniors last year. Like the stats that you put together! It's interesting when you compare Trusova and Shcherbakova.
The last 2 seasons Trusova has tried (in competition) 38 quads and landed 24 (2 with slightly negative GOE). That is a success rate of 63%.
The ones she missed, she fell 12 times and popped 2 quads.
The last 2 seasons Shcherbakova has tried (in competition) 16 quads and landed 12 (2 with slightly negative GOE). That is a success rate of 75%.
The ones she missed, she fell 2 times and had 2 URs.
That means Trusova has tried in average 3,8 quads per competition and with her success rate she is expected to land 2,4 quads.
Shcherbakova has tried in average 2,0 quads per competition and is expected to land 1,5 quads.
So even though Trusova has in average almost the double amount of quads in her programs, she is only expected to land 0,9 more quads than Shcherbakova. And given that Anna has the edge on Trusova on all the other elements + PCS, Anna beats her anyway.
For me it's safe to say that Anna's approach on just doing quads that are working consistently is the better one, even if it means you have to go down to just one quad as she has done so far this season.
Trusova should work on improving her success rate for 2 quads per competition, then she can add more quads.
