Yes, it seems the choice to withdraw because of still feeling unprepared, or play va banque and hope you don't wreck your program, is difficult when possible participation in the World Championships at stake.

Russian Nationals is not the only criteria for the Worlds Team, RusNats usually determines the Euros team and for Worlds the results of Euros are usually taken into account and RusFed is planning on holding a replacement competiton for Euros and we still have the Russian Final Cup. At this point I am 95% sure RusFed will use these competitions to determine the final Worlds team (if Worlds even takes place). With Aliev, Sinitsina/Katsalapov out and more to follow, they basically have to use more competitions to determine spots or change their rules and bring the council's decision back and vote Sinitsina/Katsalapov in.
 
I was more reasoning along the principles of financing for 2021. But I best leave it there, since it is nothing of real importance to us bystanders.

Well it doesn't necessarily have to be someone that had Covid, haven't there been skaters who did not have Covid but were around someone that did so they had to quarantine and miss ice-time?

And it looks to me that Usacheva might be a bit underrated?

I don't think its a matter of people not 'believing in her' but based on what's been seen in competition from her and from the other top ladies; I think most people would say "my opinion changes if she has that triple axel". She has 2 things working in her benefit: Trusova has a track record of under-performing in big competitions, and if she melts down then a clean Kostornaia without a triple axel can beat her, and Shcherbakova/Tuktamysheva have both had to take time off the ice for illness so it's questionable about how conditioned they are.

I don't find Dasha underrated. For me she has 6th place written all over her here (like Kostina has 18th), unless Liza and/or Alyona haven't fully recovered from the virus.

If anyone, I find Sasha a bit underrated. To me it's such a toss up between the top 3 girls, I don't know what to guess.

But what do I know. I'm just one person and the people have voted. And Golden Skate is a democracy.
