How can that amazing woman keep all of those awesome girls happy in the coming few years?
Depends on expectations but regardless it will be hard. It would be harder still if she Alena and Sasha still. However, I think she's learned over the years. I think she's learned from Yulia, she's learned from Evgenia, she's learned from Polina, she's learned from Alina, etc. I do think this is the biggest test yet though, especially considering the tech content and how new quads are.

Ohhh...how interesting. Sounds tasty. I wonder if anyone actually ate one...
Probably Yablokov  He made the plushy fish mime munching on one in his KnC yesterday... He also ate one on camera while waiting for his scores in one Russian Cup stage. Boys have it easier diet-wise 😭

I am happy with the Nats podium :) Overall quality of the event wasn't the usual standard for Russian girls but it's ok given the circumstances. Hope everyone recuperates for a stellar Russian Cup final!

Anna said this is the first time she ran her full free skate in a long time. I think she's one of the few who are better in competition than they are in practice. I love that she loves to perform and compete rather than being overwhelmed by the pressure. She has such a big love for the sport and I can't believe that her parents tried to make her quit when she was younger.

That is insane, I assumed they would have ran her full FS before to at least know if they needed to lower her jumps

Those are ice creams! all there for Yabokov and Erokhov to eat :)

Old-school Russian ice creams used to come either in a waffle-cup (which would be a generic no-flavor ice-cream) or tin-foiled like this (plombir ice cream). I‘m not sure whether that’s still the case, I haven’t been to Russia for a minute.
That company probably was appealing to nostalgic feelings, packaging their ice creams old way.
Close to my office there is a shop with russian specialities, they sell those ice creams among other things. I buy them often in the summer, they are very delicious :)

After I think it was Rostelecom, Plushy offered Sasha an ice cream but she said she didn't like ice cream haha.

She wasn't healthy enough and couldn't make it through her full FS. She did practice the individual elements though and also did a 4F-3T. But yeah, despite how amazing and magical she was today, it was a risky decision.

Totally bummed for Liza Tuk...sure can't wait for the next round of: How will the Russian Figure Skating Fed make Liza Tuk feel like she's wasted her life.

Let's face it they'd rather send a barrel of rotten fish carcasses to Worlds than her.

That final flight would have been absolutely perfect if only Liza had been clean.

Although, considering her opponents for the spot are Aliona and Liza N, I disagree with the assessment that they would rather send a "barrel of rotten fish". It's also not really the Fed's fault that Liza didn't land her 3A's either. She wouldn't have medaled (even at her best), but she would have made them take note.

No it's not, but it is their fault Liza was robbed of her spot at 2019 Worlds (after Stanislava's unfortunate showing at Euros) all because of their bogus fear that'd they'd lose spots if she went (was never, ever going to happen) and Tatiana Tarasova's desire to have her favourite skater (poor Zhenya Med!) there come Hell or high water.

I will not and cannot ever forgive either the Fed or Tarasova for that. When I'm 100 years old I'll still be saying "Remember when those scumbuckets stole what could have been Liza Tuk's last Worlds? I do, let me tell you about them."

I still think that was always going to be a close decision. And it was less lose spots because of Liza and more not get medals because of Alina, due to her weaker recent showings, (and remember Sofia was a first year senior.) Also remember at the time Evgenia was the reigning Olympic silver medalist (from the literal year before) as well as a 2x GPF, Euros, and World champion. If one or all of Alina, Evgenia, and Sofia messed up, international judges were going to save Alina and Evgenia, as much as they could, by PCS. Remember, even now, no one, including Alena, gets higher PCS internationally then they do. So, if Alina/Sofia faltered they still had the chance of a medal, even with a less than perfect skate. Remember, everyone, including Alina, had been beaten that season, by skaters who would be at Worlds. Liza doesn't get that treatment and gracious PCS, either domestically or internationally.

I remember these debates and that season like it all happened yesterday!

The committee decision was extremely one sided in Evgenia's favor. At the time most people thought it was bad decision because Liza was having one of her best seasons ever, Evgenia was clearly struggling and losing to people that she never would have before and the Russian Cup final reeked of unfair politics. Online there was all this dramatic talk (kind of similar to Anna's should she should she not compete in the free!) about the Russian ladies possibly losing their three spots because Alina was really poor at nationals and Euros (mega meltdowns in both free skates :eek2:) and the other two spots would be filled with skaters who results were likely to be lower/mid top 10 at best. It was so bad people were beginning to say its all on consistent Sofia's shoulders to help save Russia's three spots because the prospect of Alina and Evgenia bombing was too real.

And come worlds somehow to everyone's shock and relief (like Anna's free skate!) Evgenia pulled it all together and had her best competition of the season winning the Bronze and Alina was totally amazing taking the crown. Sofia was a respectable lower top 10. Lesson (that I forgot about until now): Russian ladies ALWAYS find a way to surprise and pull through! They are truly amazing even without the quads!

At least you don't have to deal with the scumbuckets stealing an OGM from one of your favorite skaters.
