Well no.At least you don't have to deal with the scumbuckets stealing an OGM from one of your favorite skaters.
Agreed. Definitely isn't Adelina's fault. All she did was skate her best and have the skate of her life at the right moment. It's also not her fault Yulia faltered - I actually don't think it's Yulia's either though, she should have been shielded from that circus and those crazy expectations of OGM on home ice.Well no.
But I'm in no way advocating anyone treat any skater the way Adelina was and continues to be. I always feel bad for her, it's not like she didn't have the skate of her life and some react like she went out, fell, left the ice and won.
All complaints should be directed at the judges.
This!!Finally got the chance to watch the free skate.
Oh Anya. <3 Her father is right, truly of iron will. She has always been a great skater, but wow. What a feat to pull off that skate.
And for Kamila to pull off that skate.
And for Sasha to pull off that skate.
What an incredible competition.
Anna just gets better and better, but her determination and will and ability to come through under pressure is so impressive. You could see those moments in the skate, right after the spin going into the step sequence especially, just how much she loves to perform. Such a privilege to watch that.
And Sasha! I know it's not the layout she was hoping for, but given the circumstances, that she was clean is quite a personal victory. Despite that she is still in the same spot on the podium, she has grown so immensely as a skater this year. I hope this performance stays with her, if not for those first quads as a junior, those hard falls when no one else dared them, we would not have the joy of seeing such a competitive and revolutionary competition in women's figure skating. (And some commenter will ruin this sentiment with talk of Anna and her quads also, but idc, at this point). She is not the most musical, doesn't have the best spins or skating skills (but they're getting there!) To see her triumph over the mind is so satisfying, and I hope we get to see more of this from her, because she is so capable.
We can get nitpicky with protocols, which I've not yet viewed, but what a podium.
I was sad to see Liza Tuk's performance go the way it did, but I really do love this program on her. The nonchalant yet powerful choreo really suits her as it makes her somewhat lax body positions that seem lazy in other programs seem intentional. Russian Cup Final will be interesting, assuming Aliona is capable of recovering by then ( massive sad face there ) but still, RusNats, how you never disappoint me.
The russian ladies are cuties and dragons... the Japanese graph them well...the Princess tried very hard to steal the crown but the Queen protected it with her life.)
seems that these young ladies took this competion as seriously as the Olympics. the real thing will be terrifying.
these are not cuties, they're dragons.
I wouldn't want them as rivals in my life, especially Anna.
For me it was the look on her face right when she was started her step sequence and the music sped up. And then slowly extending her arms in the ending pose when the music slowed. A huge contrast to the expression in the steps, it was chilling in the best way.I can't find proper words to describe what happened today.
I'll just say I cried like a baby after last Anna's jump and that it was one of the most heroic performances in sports history.![]()
Alexandra Mar’ina, local girl, ChelyabinskTranslation? Please![]()
Looks like top 5 actually right?? Daria and Maiia are skating. Would have loved to see Liza T and N.Here's a link to the Gala schedule:
Zhenya Med will skate in the first half.
Also for some interesting reason Anabelle Morozov and Andrei Bagin get a spot, but no other Russian lady but the top 3![]()
There are currently only 2 girls capable of fighting and possibly defeating Valieva and Shcherbakova by jumping quads combined and 3A. But they are both 13 years old and will not make it to the Olympics: they are Akatieva and Samodelkina. The reality is that nobody. In Russia can come close to those three girls unless aliona gets her 3A back. That is not going to change in the next year.

Those two are fantastic and no one knows how great they can be. But they are a couple to a few years away from being able to compete against the Russian ladies medalists at Nationals today especially if they raise the age rule from 15 to 17. Although if they will be 14 next year before August 1st and maybe they will be in Nationals in December against the seniors. There are currently only 2 girls capable of fighting and possibly defeating Valieva and Shcherbakova by jumping quads combined and 3A. Them more Valieva, Shcherbakova and Trusova are currently the top 5 ladies skaters in the world.

Oh I must have missed the 4th and 5th place ladies.Looks like top 5 actually right?? Daria and Maiia are skating. Would have loved to see Liza T and N.
EDIT: Actually according to the ^ translation looks like top 5 for ladies, men, and pairs and top 6 for ice dance.
I 100% agree! I think Liza felt she had to skate if she wanted any shot at worlds because the last time she withdrew due to illness it didn’t bode well for her. Unfortunately though she wasn’t in the condition to deliverNot much has been said and its only been mentioned briefly but watching the competition again all I can say is poor Liza
Everyone's been talking about Anna's illness but Liza still looks like she's sick. She must feel terrible. I could actually feel it just looking at her face through the screen cause half the time I swear she didn't even look like she was mentally all there. I really admire her for going for it but now I hope she gets the rest she needs

Yeah looks like it's top 5 everywhere and Morozov/Bagin are there as an invite, kinda like Evgenia.Oh I must have missed the 4th and 5th place ladies.
Shame Liza N wasn't invited! Liza Tuk needs some rest, but Liza N's on fire!
I don’t see Kamila, Daria, or Maiia competing in Juniors. I think the purpose of competing at the Seniors Level was to get a spot for the National Team for the Olympic year. Losing to Sofia S or Akatieva will only hurt their reputation. There is no Junior Worlds, so, if I was them, I wouldn’t bother. Junior Nationals will be interesting because top 8 will most likely be the team that they send to the Junior Grand Prix next year.Yeah looks like it's top 5 everywhere and Morozov/Bagin are there as an invite, kinda like Evgenia.
I would have loved to see Liza N! (Liza T too but I'm not upset at her getting to rest at all.)
I hope the girls (all of them) now have at least a couple weeks to rest. There are no Euros so the next competition for most of them isn't until the Cup Final in 2 months, which I kinda hope Sasha and Anna don't have to go to but they might, anyway. I also wonder if Kamila, Daria, and Maiia will go to Junior nationals (which is at the beginning of Feb so still like 6 weeks away).
No way! Yuna Kim is my favourite skater, but she deserved the OSM. Carolina Costner should have received the OGM. She has textbook technique and was more artistic on that night.^@chasingneverland Yuna Kim.
No. Juniors have competed on the senior Cup of Russia stages before being senior internationally, regardless of an upcoming Olympics year. Alena, Anna, and Sasha all did - in fact Alena even won two stages and the cup final as a junior, two years before turning senior. (Sasha also won one of the stages getting silver at another of the stages and placed second behind Alena at the Final.) They have also competed as seniors at the Russian nationals. In fact, Alena, Anna, and Sasha all medaled in their debuts, before they were seniors internationally, and actually swept the podium as juniors in Anna and Sasha's debut and Alena's second year. Evgenia and Alina also medaled at senior nationals while being juniors internationally.I don’t see Kamila, Daria, or Maiia competing in Juniors.
