Ladies' Long Program

I have to say, I think this new program could be a big step in the right direction for Mira. I was very skeptical about her skating to lyrical piano, but it seems to have forced her to be more aware of her movement and comportment. She still looked a bit stiff, and was very slow, but overall the quality of movement, the refinement of the elements and the program as a whole was a big step up for her. Also, her costume was lovely and flattering. Big improvement.

Mira looks like a happier, more mature person over all. Into 1st.

I haven't seen Mai skate a clean program for a while, and anyway her program doesn't contain many hard jumps (or combos). But I love her line and musicality. Hope she skates clean!

So proud of Mira for wearing makeup, a nice hairdo and costume. She is finally presenting herself like a real women.

Talking about a total make-over; Mira looks fantastic. I like the dress a lot, and she really does seem to relate to the music. Her upper body and arms were quite nice. jumps are pretty darn good. I hope this is the start of a fantastic season for her. (can i nit-pick - i always dislike tights outside the boot, and even the greatest of the greatests have done it, but I still don't like it). Back to positive - i can't wait to see this program evolve and she gains more confidence with it. terrrific job.

Mai: fall on 3Z, doubled flip, nice 3T.

Just saw her first combo (I think?), 2A-2T, 2T might get downgraded. She looks tired.

Just fell on her pretty simple & slow footwork sequence, uh-oh.

Nice ending spin.

Mai Asada

triple lutz- clean but kind of wierd landing
triple flip- maybe a bit two footed, landed upright
triple salchow- clean
death drop- very high sit spin, curls leg close to body on the bottom
spiral sequence- first spiral holds leg forward but very wobbly, lots of biellmans like the other girls
triple lutz- two footed then fell, might have been underrotated too
triple flip- doubled
triple toe- clean, a bit forward
combination spin- camel-sit-pulled leg up, nicely done
double axel-double toe - shaky
layback- terrible leg position
footwork sequence- slow, hard fall backwards, ouch
combination spin- camel, various sit positions, pulled legs up

Not that good. It will be interesting to see if Mira passes her.

Oh, dear, two falls (one on footwork). She's so elegant, but this didn't do much for me.

Well, I would have much rather seen Dube & Davison and Belbin & Agosto than to suffer through Mira . . . sorry. Sure, she has made slight improvements, but I still find her cheated jumps and slow skating to be boring.

Might be because she can't find new boots to work for her, so she's sticking to her old boots, which are now too worn to be covered up with tapes.

Not too bad a program for Mai, actually. But I don't think she can beat Mira with that.

Gosh, Emily .... She needs to slim down, there's no way she can rotate those triples with that size.

I still think Mira's hair could be better but she has taken steps in the right direction.

I worry about the pounding that her knees are taking...

Oh, I love Carmina Burana (sang it back in college choir).

From what I've seen in pictures, her skates look new, and the tights are the footless ones, not over-the-boot... I agree they're not my favourite but it seems as though Mira's taking steps in the good direction, so I'll endure the tights :)

Wow, won't it be something if Emily finishes below Mira . . . a single Lutz, obvious telegraphing, and 1/4 turn cheats on her jump landings.

Emily. Some simple jumps, Mira should be placed ahead her, but who knows...

Very slow as well.

Mai's program was a disaster.

I must disagree with whoever said Emily looked like she needed to slim down. I think she looks wonderful. Struggled through her performance. Her dress is beautiful and very flattering.
