The judges need to stop holding teams down based on their prejudices. They need to make the skates speak for themselves or the discipline will lose it's already waning popularity.
2021 U.S. Nationals: Senior Free Dance

Funnily enough they first came to my attention with the Romeo and Juliet FD a few seasons back. Apparently it wasn't very popular, but I really loved it.
Their current FD doesn't speak to me, I'm not sure why?

I think I liked the Skate Canada cut of that FD best, but then they tinkered with it again and the version I saw in Vancouver just wasn't that memorable to me. (But honestly, the FD I connected with most at the GPF that year was Guignard/Fabbri's La La Land, which I did not see coming)

Well. There have been 3 performances so far this competition that just grabbed me and didn’t let go. Didn’t look at the score box or what you were typing or who has liked my cats tweets. Those were Ash and Tim’s free, Jason’s short and Kaitlyn and Jean Lucs FD. Guess I really love bronze medal/medalists?

I know! I remember I think it was last season? when Kaitlin and Jean-Luc had a very avant-garde program with odd music, but one that they performed with commitment. The judges were not kind with the marks and it was said it was because the music was too weird.
Like say what? The music was weird, but wonderfully weird! I mean I'm not an ice dance expert, but I really hope the judges didn't let that blind them to everything else. It's supposed to be about how the program is constructed and performed, not whether you'd put the music on your playlist!

It's not really a cover of blondie, it is blondie singing, it's just mixed with Philip Glass.The program really is entrancing, and I find myself watching *both* JeanLuc and Kaitlyn. Which has not always been the case
I do need to say, that cover of Blondie. Ooh boy, not a fan

I’m angry and shall now grump off to bed. I’m not even talking about them finishing behind Zach and Maddie but Madi and Evan had obvious twizzle errors and Kaitlyn and Jean Luc were very far behind them. It’s ridiculous.I haven't a clue why I'm tearing up, but after the snake dance, I thought it was a sure thing for Madi and Evan. I never thought Zach and Madi could float so smoothly and beautifully to the top. I have no complains.

Last season was horrible. I don’t want to ever see that shell shocked and confused expression on her face in the K&C EVER again.

Kaitlin was a muse on ice. Jean-Luc, the artist inspired by her. She invoked so many things, I saw flashbacks of Tessa Virtue, Medvedeva's expressions, and the sheer magicality and fluidity of Avonley Nguyen's last season performance. Kaitlin was a poem and Jean-Luc the writer. What a fitting musical and costume choice. Beautiful beautiful beautiful.
I will always want Chock and Bates to get gold but Kaitlin and Jean-Luc should be higher than what the judges gave them (and on the toes of Chock and Bates in this scoreboard). Really unfair.

The scoring of the twizzel stepout was interesting....but it was enough to cost them gold. Lady 4, man 3.

I was really happy to see H/D take the Gold again, but I'm sorry judges, you got the rest wrong. There was an error in C/B's program and it wasn't skated as sharply as last season. H/B was divine and should have taken the silver over C/B's.

Well, they did look happy today
They can be proud of themselves. They along with Piper and Paul are so creative with what they bring to the ice. It's a privilege to watch them 
But even if you take out the top 3 that was a beautiful competition! So many great dances both funky and serious. The men were a bit of a ballad fest, but the ice dancers kept me on my toes
The US has 3 spots for dance at Worlds right? I hope Kaitlin and Jean-Luc get to the Olympics one day
