Tara and Johnny talk about how great he is and then ruin it with negative comments. This is especially depressing for people watching that have no knowledge of the sport. Just let him skate.

Ooh I could get behind this combo too. I was thinking during slaughter I would’ve loved to see Rohene’s interpretation which, I know, might’ve been wildly different but I think that score deserved a little more attention to the undercurrents which Jason shows MASTERfully when allowed.

I mean I still enjoyed it top to bottom it just felt underwhelming in a few places given the potential a combination of Jason and that classic score have to offer. If he does return to an old program for next season, I really hope he’ll keep this for an exhibition and just go absolutely wild with it!

Annnd adding my name to the list of people who would also be thrilled with a Sinnerman+Schindler’s List Olympic combo.:points:
And now back to the regularly scheduled programming of Sinnerman on 10x per day repeat...

wow it looks great! it looks like less than a quarter - think the swinging free leg makes it looks less rotated than it actually is!! big improvement on what we’ve seen before! I think he just needs a few more comps to get his feet under him (how likely this is to happen though i don’t know)

I wish Rohene was his only choreographer 'cause I see a pattern with David Wilson and it's not a good one (exept for Schindler's List where Jason actually wanted to skate the music and no one had to convince him to wait for it to grow on him). If you look at it, he was very good in the SP and then went on to lose levels on spins and steps in the FS. It reminded me of 2018-2019 Jason underperforming with his free, but brilliant with the Rohene short.

I've had my doubts about David Wilson and Jason working well together and have wanted him to try out another choreographer but I'm not sure a Rohene FS is the answer. I can't help but think about Inner Love that Jason never connected with. I'm happy that they are talking about going with a free program that Jason is familiar with rather than having him learn new choreo for an Olympic year. Considering his difficulty learning new choreo, that makes sense. I'm not the biggest fan of SL because I think the choreo is a bit empty and what made it special was Jason's dedication to it and the emotion and purpose he brought to it, but if that's what they are considering bringing back, I'm all for it. It's obvious that Jason loved it and skating something that he wants to skate is paramount. At this point in his career I'd just like Jason to skate what he wants to skate and the way he wants to skate.

I'd like to know what Jason skated in the Gala last night. I assume he skated. I saw a pic of him in what I think was the Sinnerman costume. Wonder if he could have skated Melancholy.

@mollycesanek's Instastory has some video snippets from last night's gala -- including snippets of Jason.

(The sweet Molly tends to be prolific on Instastory, so just keep going thru her earlier snippets ... and Jason at the gala eventually will be there. [BTW, her earlier snippets include shots from the Men's FS, including Jason.])


One of Jason's comments from yesterday's presser:

"And so to be able to take more risks and continue to push myself artistically & also technically and - to be honest - relying on Vincent & Nathan because I know how strong they are. I think we’re able to take more risks, knowing that it’s not only up to one of us."

It's nice that all three are strong teammates who can help each other take risks. [Jason is referring to the group effort to earn Olympic spots.]

He is using melancholy as his exhibition! Molly Cesanek posted clips on her insta story 👌🏻

I don't. Jason had that situation for at least a decade before the move to Orser and I don't think it did him any favours in the long run. Yes, Rohene produced some incredible programs for Jason, but we also saw times when giving Rohene complete creative control backfired hard (the Tristan costume, wanting to dye Jason's hair for the Piano, the first Piano costume, the first Prince costume, the struggle over the Hamilton program...).

That said, I am also seeing the pattern with Wilson and I don't like it. When I begged for Jason to try a new choreographer years ago, David Wilson was at the bottom of my list, only just above Lori Nichol. I was more thinking someone like Shae Lynn Bourne or Jeff Buttle or...

...or Joshua...

But we have what we have for this season and it sounds like Schindler's is being seriously considered for an Olympic-year return.
