Someone please tell me Russian junior nationals is soon like this week. I dont know how much of Annas lutz's we can take.
Isn't Junior Nationals like the day before the team competition? If so, it will not serve its purpose for longer than a day 😩
This constant denial of something anything with eyes can see makes other posters want to fight back against the gaslighting.
I guess that's the problem - by trying to fight gaslighting you are only being further gaslit. You show up to the table with reality, someone denies it, you come back with more reality, someone denies it, etc. Only by walking away knowing your truth can the fire die. It's extremely hard and something I have to practice at every day in the figure skating blogosphere ❤️

As for the current novices, apart from Zhilina, there are Titova, Shifrina, Kostyleva who are strong. Not sure yet about Rubtsova, but Eteri's girls usually improve around 12-13, she still has about a year. Dvoeglazova seems very strong of Eteri's novices (technically best free skate at novice championships). I'm also curious how Sadkova will develop. On a local championship last week she messed short program (no video) being 11th, but thanks to by far the best free skate according to score (no video again) she finished 2nd. She's once again very flexible, on the dance videos she's on the same level with Adeliya Petrosian, but so far has quite unstable jumps.

Saw that, and a bit concerned that it has been a long time since I've seen any skating posts from Camp Trusova/Plusy's acct. etc. I know she had a serious injury and I'm wondering if there is some bad news from the Trusova Camp. (The only post has been the watch sponsorship-but no skating/practice/jump posts at all)
I think it was posted here that Sasha disliked having to many traing videos posted on AoP socials. I dont know if thats true but considering how long it was since Sasha appeared it would make sense. As it is now there have mainly been Sofia T and Veronika featured for months.

(cant blame her if she or anyone else wants to train in peace and not get dragged on the internet for whatever flaw she had in the video)

Weird for me to see Adelia coming into this discussion so late. I know she hasn't had any quads or 3A in performance yet, but there has been a quad in a training video. I just think she's a gorgeous skater, so musical, and such a natural performer. (Showing my biases for sure.) I'd be curious to hear thoughts from all the lovers of Russian ladies skating here on the Russian ladies skating thread.

I agree, she's natural performer. She shows her talent during the dance lessons, her interpretation of Edit Piaf was exclusive at only 12. She had some health problems (officially it was stated as "pain in the leg", maybe growing related?) which probably affected her stability at the cup stages but I hope everything will be fine. This season she has programs that suit her well, tango for the short program and Artsakh (not sure whether it is correct transcription into english) for the free (which unfortunately became political problem now).

Maybe this thread needs to look forward now to the near future. Next week is going to be awesome! First the Junior Nats then the Team event thing. Both easily accessible and even with Ted Barton.

Adelia is difficult to predict here. As is Veronika Zhilina. I see them both in the fight for the bronze medal. Realistically anywhere berween 3rd and about 7th. Zhilina basically does have a chance for gold as well, but I don't see that happening. Gold will be decided between the two Sofia's (Akatieva, Samodelkina).

Is Maya going to be there? What about Anna Frolova? Some kind of an entry list should appear soon, if it hasn't already.

Thank you both for such loving responses that show your love of Russian ladies figure skating. Did I mention I love Russian ladies figure skating?

Ah, Adeliya at the Russian junior nationals. I remember that was the moment when I became astounded -- alongside Ted Barton -- at the depth of the field in Russia. Anyhow, I just love that final spin from Adeliya: so much speed for a camel, the illusion spin is even kind of awesome, and then that final powerful arm movement timed with the end of the music.

Good call, Novalis, I too am curious about the upcoming junior nationals. When will we see an entry list? I vaguely remember seeing one on the internet somewhere but a couple days ago I looked again and couldn't find anything.

Really loved her performing Artsakh, it’s probably my favorite free skate of this season. Such a powerful piece, and she’s skating so well to it. Hopefully she’ll skate clean with a quad next time. I rewatched her FS so many times, along with Maiia‘s SP. 2 of the competitive programs I enjoyed the most this season.

I think given her age, she’s in a good spot right now. Her performance abilities, spins and skating skills will be creating a great cushion, but in order to get that reputation she needs her jumps, which I think will come with time.

I just saw a clip of Sasha training at home during quarantine 9 months ago:

It looks really cool that she has what looks like a training studio at home. But it also reminded me that not everyone has these kinds of facilities to train in.

I noticed that Sasha often focuses on training her core, no wonder she has her amazing abs.
