Actually, most people just want winners to win fair and square.

Just that some have decided to apply ridiculous rules of their imagining to certain skaters - and start calling results "unfair" when reality simply isn't so.

Here, have a nice look: https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/t...-sp-at-russian-nats.87482/page-3#post-2701094 :)
But who says that pre-rotated quad flip and quad lutz are harder than a textbook quad flip and quad lutz with minimal pre-rotation and therefore should worth more points? Textbook technique and minimal pre-rotation are so rare... And what is obvious these two things are more beautiful than pre-rotated, twist-bend-whatever jumps. Let's not forget that figure skating is about beauty and the scores should reflect that.

This article says the ISU is still planning the Worlds to go ahead as planned:

Phil Hersh confirmed it, though he's not sure if it's the final decision

So what's this talk about virtual competitions, anyway? Skaters skating in their local rinks and begin judged by a panel elsewhere? Seems pretty complex but might be the only possibility for proper competitions with international travel restrictions and quarantines.
For example T. Kawabata's 3F, is bigger in height than Shcherbakova's 4F.
Well now, this just is completely incorrect. I think if you're going to criticize a skater, using facts would be a good starting point.

Ooph, the trolling! But good publicity still. ;)

I'm not sure which jump of that skater they are referencing, but Shcherbakova's 4F is indeed lower than 3F's from other ladies in the past. It has just become increasingly rare to see a huge 3F.

OMG.

I LITERALLY linked a person's scores who gave her 4Lz +2, and extremely high PCS. Where is this "lacking beauty" you speak of?!

You've literally made up your own rules and criticizing skaters for them! I can make up a random rule too! Kostornaia doesn't tie her hands behind her back and doesn't scream "LAKERNIK IS MY KING" after every 3F she does! How dare she! Disgusting!

I thought they meant Kawabata's 3F vs Anna's 4F. I agree that Anna's 4F is smaller (and it's also smaller than several women like Kim, Ito, Kostner, Sebestyen... etc).

Skaters not screaming Lakernik‘s name are just calling for negative GOEs. Hope they’ll come to their senses :D

Pleeease no more about Anna's jumps till after the team competition, let's have one week of peace.

I've been assuming Aliona's first program was lackluster because it was done over Zoom so Idk how this will be any better but I'll try to hope. She doesn't have much time to get it right before the team competition, but I guess it's good she'll have a chance to test it out before the Cup final. I'm kind of nervous, it could be literally anything!

And Sergei Rozanov is second choreographer.

I didn’t like Aliona’s FS this season, but that’s just my taste, I don’t know if the program was actually a problem. Even without the 3A, I think continuing to heal and get back into form would’ve been sufficient enough. A new program at the very end of the season seems risky considering there’s a lot she’s probably working on right now, but maybe it’ll end up being good regardless. We’ll see.

I didn't know Alëna was supposed to be at the Team competition? Is she?

Edit: Well, apparently she was, because now I hear a rumour that Kostornaya might withdraw because she is not ready, and that Maiia Khromykh will replace her as she has withdrawn from the Chaikovskaya Tournament.

Well Tomoe Kawabata's latest jump seemed to be a downgrade at 2020 worlds. JGP, it also was UR, and a fall. She doesn't even jump it very often since it's on the wrong edge.

I'm really curious about which jump, too. Something from 3 years ago or something?

You know, I could also say that Vivian Le has a bigger 3Lutz than any lady's quads. She indeed did 5 years ago. But it's slightly misleading.

Now, I didn't have the patience to go through every single video of Kawabata's to find a clean 3Flip in order to compare but maybe they really are that massive. Or were.

So your point is that they would win anyway so if judges give +5 or +4 on pre-rotated jumps it doesn’t really matter?

Except when it does matter.

I feel like in general technique is probably going by the wayside in order to get the quads done in both disciplines. I like the quads so I’m not sure what to think about it. I do think that proper technique should be rewarded and if those without proper technique get the same scores that won’t happen. Or maybe we should just throw it all out the window and tell everyone to pre-rotate everything and who cares. Seems like that’s the direction things are headed in.

Local "experts" from a certain camp get more and more pathetic and ridiculous in their "expertise". Some Japanese skater whose best result was 12th place at the junior worlds has a bigger triple jump than Anna's quad. What an important piece of information for the Russian ladies thread!

I am glad that Tomoe Kawabata once managed to jump a triple higher than 60 cm (as far as I can remember the height of Anna's quad flip is between 55 and 60 cm). What's next? Let's find some Romanian skater who can jump a 70 cm single flip.

The more I read this nonsense the more I wish the worlds to take place so that we shall see who is worth what.

You know what they say - bad technique is always bad technique.
Sotnikova is 4th time Russian national champion and Olympic champion. And so what?!?
How many fans she has outside Russia?
