Kamila is in pretty good shape for next season. She'll probably work on another type of quad just to give herself some room, but she doesn't "need" it. But also, puberty will likely hit. I already see her growing a lot this season. She's been dealing with it quite well so far (rippon to fix wabbly axis...), I just hope she doesn't grow too much. Her body type reminds me of Alina (they're also both Tatars ethnically) and she clearly develops a bit early than Alina.
On the other hand, puberty has been treating Sasha and Anya nicely...
Anya seems to have the body type that just doesn't grow too much - Anya's mom is also quite slim.
Sasha - gained mostly muscles, and I think she has the chance of having the longest skating career among these ladies (she mentioned in some interview that she wants to do 2 Olympics?)
Anyhow...right now it seems like these three will be the strongest contender for next year's Olympics!
I agree with that.
Anna is naturally slim, it helps in the world of figure skating. But this also make her more fragile to possible injuries. I definitely had to experience that myself, I am a gymnast, and I am naturally thinner than most other female gymnasts, I get things don't perhaps easier due to my low weight, but I also don't have the power and strength others have, and most importantly endurance. I burn out if I have competitions after competitions. I think Anna has this problem too, she is not as explosive as the others, and a FS is like squeezing so much energy out of her to a point it scares you. I think it will help her to build more muscle.
Sasha's body type is quite muscular. It helps her to gain more powerful. And I mean her abs are just dream!!! I see her sustaining her quads longer, and that enables her to have a longer career too. She's gain weight that's for sure, and height, but she maintains very good strength to weight ratio which is what helps her. Body wise.
Kamila and Alina do have very similar body types. Alina's puberty didn't really hit until the latter half of her Olympic season. But Kamila have clearly hit hers. In my opinion, puberty might not be very nice to them, Alina definitely struggled. They are a bit more curvier compared to a lot of other very skinny Russian girls.
With the younger girls it's hard to visualise their body types because at this stage they are still very tiny.
I do wonder though, how many of these girls have eating disorders? I imagine Evgenia did to some level, and I still worry about her health. she looked so so much healthier when she went to Orser and genuinely happy for once. I remember in the documentary when their food intake and weight was talked about, and it just didn't feel healthy to me. Most athletes struggles with it to some level. I never had to struggle with my weight, but when I hit puberty it was still a problem, and I did eventually developed an ED. I was actually the skinny one, but it doesn't matter, ED has so prevalent in athletes.
