As for Anna after her program- why interpret sth into nothing again? She was crushed and had an exaggerated hard reaction on herself, like she and most of the Eteri girls always do, because she made what in that camp is considered huge mistakes in her skate.
Maya had the exact same sad tired face, hunched over posture and eyes to the floor.
There doesn't always have to be some secret illness or injury or mental issue be discovered as to why a girl cannot skate a 4Lz 4F 3Lz-3T 3Lz-3Lo program clean everytime - it's simply incredibly hard.

I think it's partly because I don't think you get to the level those girls are at without striving for perfection and being disappointed if you don't achieve it is natural, and its likely partly because she was competing with other people where how she performed impacted everyone on her team's chances of winning. And probably partly because I don't think she was fully recovered from pneumonia when she started training for Nationals and similar to injuries; if you try to come back early you may successfully do it but its going to take longer to recover.

Ooo good point...as a nervous person myself I'm not sure how I'd deal waiting until last...on the other hand I don't think I could sit back and enjoy, I'd be like "Is she going to beat me? Or her? Or maybe her?" I think I'd actually have to leave the venue! I wonder if that's allowed 😅

BTW I know it was for funsies, but what place did Sasha actually get in the FS? I can't even remember her score?
3rd. Behind Kamila, Anna

I truly want Eteri to take Darya by the hand, sit her down in her office and go "Darya would you like to skate at the Olympics? Then we will try with every fiber in your being to learn a 3A now."
I would much prefer to see her skate in the Olympics over Sasha. There I said it and I'm sorry cause I have nothing against Sasha, but she is just not a good skater to me. She's an outstanding jumper and athlete, but her skating is just so inferior to Darya's, so are her triple jumps if I'm honest. It's just unpleasant to me.
But of course if Sasha has several ultra-c jumps and Darya has none, there is no dispute over who deserves to be there.

It's sad that figure skating is already turning into a sport where teenager dominates the whole field. Actually very young undeveloped teenagers, and it seems like once puberty hits, the story ends.

I don't think the age-eligibility should be raised but it's just sad. The turnover is insane at this rate.

It's amazing what these young skaters are capable of technically, but when are we going to see legendary long time skaters like Carolina Kostner, Yuna Kim, Mao Asada? Their performances perhaps weren't technically as brilliant, but they are the greats even till this day.

Puberty is a monster in athletes. Liza T defo does not have the body type you want, but in real life, she is so so much skinner than a normal person. Aesthetic sports are definitely not kind to skaters in terms of weight, and you gain weight during puberty, everybody does, you become curvier, it's unhealthy to look stick thin. I worry every time I see Medvedeva, she looks ill if I'm honest.

And Ksenia S, is it just me? I am sure I have never seen her this thin, and I was honestly a bit shocked when I saw her at her first competition back. She looked much healthier last season. And Mai... That poor girl, please get healthier, it is just so so heart breaking this see these girls look so fragile.

I worry about these skaters health honestly, both physical and mental.

No ten points less each. I don't know what Sasha needs. It wasn't a clean skate afterall.
Oh phew! My stream quality wasn't the clearest, so I must have misremembered.

This is good news! :) 4 different quads in a program is an insane ask, so I'm relieved. Having to work on all those quads will interfere with her working on her artistry. If she becomes a champion now, I'd like her to have that so there isn't forever an * next to her name that basically says "She was only a jumper"

I thought so...was it a huge difference? Like does Sasha still need 1 more quad to make it up?

I think she might need 2 didn't Kamila get like 190 and Anna 180? 😱
These are the scores I have, but they are hand written so they may be off.

Valieva 179.19
Anna 169.06
Trusova 163.33

Usacheva 155.04
Liza 150.41
Maiia 136.76

There should be NO complaining about Trusova's score, she got extremely favorable scoring, based on the real-time scoring (since we haven't gotten any protocols) they gave her that 4lz+eu+3S, when she put her hand on the ice after the lutz, did at least 1 full 360 on the ice before doing the euler+salchow. I give her credit for putting in the effort, but that should not have been credited as a combination and they took off less than 1 point in GOE

This was Trusova and Shcherbakova's score.
Shcherbakova: 169.06
Trusova: 163.33

Yeah sorry about that! It was 4am in Australia and my stream was a bit blurry. I didn't mean to sound like I was complaining I just wanted to know if Sasha will be able to keep competitive with Anna and Kamila.

I was surprised by the Lutz combo too, I was sure that was a fall. I hope she can do it super clean next time :)

Is it, though? Sasha and Anna are 17 this year, and they are still winning over Daria and Maiia. Kamila is the only 14 yo here, and I'd say physically she's bigger (not the right word but maybe more curvy? Developed isn't the correct term either because not having curves doesn't make you less of a developed woman) than Sasha and Anna. She doesn't look like a typical 14 year old figure skater. She's taller, not very thin, but also not pure muscle - she has a fat/muscle ratio in between. Anna kind of has a disadvantage - she's thin but that also means she doesn't build muscle easily, like Evgenia. And Anna also has long limbs and wide hips for her frame which usually isn't great for jumping. She's definitely going through puberty this season.

You're always going to have different body types in skating. If you're gifted like Sasha, you will be able to build extremely lean muscle and be very strong but still have proportionate limbs and hips that aren't too wide. She has probably the most ideal body type I've seen, except for her flexibility. But genetics will always play a role in sports, and it's the biggest contributor when training conditions are the same.

Is skating last a bad thing? I always thought it would better, although I guess the waiting could get to you. I'd want to go last so that I knew right away where I finished. Like imagine going out skating your best ever, being in the lead and then having to watch 3 or 4 skaters go and maybe see your place drop down. It would be awful!
I know Sasha is particular HATES going last. If you go earlier you set the bar. If you go later you have to rise to meet it.

I think it might be awful regardless...

Can I just get some clarification: what is the basis for the hope that Dasha will get a triple axel? Is it only that we have seen the 2A and it is gorgeous and big? I'm just trying to remember, was there any statement made by her in an interview that she was working on it? A statement from the Eteri camp? (Or a statement from anyone that she is not working on it?) I'm pretty sure we haven't seen a video.

Just curious if anyone knows the facts on this one.

Not that we aren't allowed to speculate/encourage when it comes to triple axels! Again, just curious.

That's kind of depressing because Kseniia is one of the best full-package skaters out there. Also she has broken 215 internationally - JGP Italy and it was with junior PCS and no choreo sequence so with the PCS she deserves and a choreo sequence she'd probably be around 220 also without 3A or quads or even 3Lz+3Lo. She also did a 3Lo instead of a 3F and a FSSp instead of a FCSp so maybe 221.

Maybe it would be better for her and Daria to skip the final, work on getting quads + 3As and then come out next season with a full arsenal.
She got a 215.58. I wouldn't say that's breaking 215 lol.

Even still Aliona will get at least 220 probably 225. With even one 3A she's be around 230+, especially considering she's the reigning Euros champion. Whereas a 220 would be the high end for Kseniia. And Kseniia doesn't have even Daria's junior pedigree.

From what I know it's just based on speculation because her double axel is so good.

No. She just wasn't clean. She struggled with both her 4Lz. Although, Anna wasn't clean either and missed her 3Lo.

And Kamila was 180. Anna was 170. She was only 6 points behind Anna but Anna wasn't clean either (hand down on 4F and singled her 3Lo.)
