That‘s quite the awkward situation. I‘m no fan of Eteri and I have serious doubts she could get Aliona, with all her struggles, back into shape, but at this point, I hope she‘ll take her back. Otherwise the poor girl will have to go back to training with two coaches who are now fully aware that she tried to leave them... If Plushenko didn‘t care all that much before...well, it‘s not going to get any better.

Edit: I‘ll be sad, though, if she changes coaches and they make her change her new programs as well. They seemed so promising and I loved the costumes.

How much more can we take? Aliona is obviously hurting very deeply.

I'll believe it when I see it that she's going back to E G & T T. But isn't EG still listed as her coach and Sambo 70 as her Club?

And what happens if EG does not take her back? Does she stay with young Sergei at PA? If all of these rumors are true then plushie might be pissed.

I also would like to know when did Alona and eatarry speak at the rink? What rink? Megasport?

I hope that Aliona does what's best for her life and career and that her parents have some input in this.

Let's see what happens the next couple days. But to think that EG could get her second daughter Zhenya and the most beautiful skater in the world Alena back inside of six months is unthinkable.

It's been a crazy season and it's not over yet and the Olympic season will age everyone here by 10 years..

Medvedeva was a bit different as the covid situation prevented her from being with Orser.

Yeah I'm also not sure how much pushing by the higher ups like Lakernik there was. I'm sure if Lakernik told Eteri to take her she couldn't really argue back. Technically Medvedeva should have had options like Buianova or something, though. As should Kostornaya, I doubt she'd be without a coach at all... Just without a good one.

But would they take him back at TT? I'm sure he would stay at TA because the money is probably pretty good and plusshie will get more skaters in there. For sure Sasha freezing young Sergei out has started a domino effect of trouble for him.

Why would Eteri need 6th skater aspiring for Olympics?

On the other side, it would be good move and last chance for Kostornaia - I'm 100% sure she needs strict regime and authoritarian coach to succeed. She's just not as driven as Trusova and Shcherbakova, but capable of great things when pushed and properly packaged.

Lol, either way, whatever she decides, Sergej went from wanting to upgrade to being the main coach with his own team of star students, including Sasha, Zhilinas and Aliona, to being completely downgraded to have none of them, and it being publicly announced that Aliona is trying to leave him and Plushenko.
A very tough year for the guy, don’t know where his career will go from here.

Perhaps, he overestimated his own abilities.

although i'm about 90% sure Alina won't come back next season, i can't help but wonder if she's been thinking about it. this is her last chance to try for another olympic team. from her recent interview she said her training has stayed mostly the same all this time, so if she wanted to she could do it. she still has her triples and isn't completely out of shape. her chances of making a 2nd team are slim but if she returns with her old content she would absolutely still be competitive, regardless whether or not she makes it.

Oh she would definitely still be competitive. It helps that she doesn't need to rely just on ultra-c's which can be outscored but also has phenomenal PCS and GOE. Although, depending on how Anna and Sasha do at World's and how next year plays out where every competition will matter, that could change. But she would not be out of the running - she would be about Daria here but with higher PCS - which she gets internationally - she has the highest PCS in the world. She won't make it out of Russia but..she would still be competitive - if she can come back to form.

I haven't heard that but...it wouldn't be crazy. It would be a bit reactionary but seeing the veritable army Eteri has - although most she already knew. It..depends. I don't necessarily see it but it wouldn't surprise me either..

She definitely wouldn't be coming back as number 1 but she isn't with Plushy either so...? (She is Rozanov's number 1 but..)

Medvedeva is driven as hell and physically capable to return to her old level, but it's not enough anymore.
Even her peak 2016 herself, jumping several 3-3-3 in the trainings would not make it to the Russian Olympic team.

Yeah but circumstances were a bit different there. Evgenia can't train with Orser due to COVID and isn't a realistic threat to the team. It's just a cherry on top if Eteri can bring her back to form. Aliona..if they can bring her back - could be. But it's a HUGE if if they can bring her back.. Also she could still train with Plushy.. Also Evgenia's departure was much less recent and Eteri LOVED Evgenia. She has no great attachment to Aliona - there it's business.

It's definitely not impossible but if she thought she wasn't queen at Plushy's...Eteri has even more skaters than when she left..

The back and stress fractures are nothing new. She's been dealing with those injuries since her last junior season..

That's why age compounds things..

Would they have room for her? I think so. EG would have Anna KV and aliona back together again. EG likes things in threes.

Technically that means Anna, Kamila, Daria, Maiia, and Aliona would all be back together. And technically Alina and Evgenia as well.

While Eteri likes things in threes, Aliona isn't one of the 3 right now. Daria is the forerunner for that spot.

And yes, Liza B is also there.

So if she thought that rink was crowded before..it's busier now..and there are more contenders now. Then only Anna was a realistic senior contender.

Next year, she'll have, Anna, Kamila, Daria, and Maiia as contenders.
