Did Daria Sarymsakova just join Team Tutberidze? Isn't that her on the right?

Third Daria in the team?

I didn’t see Eteri in the picture. Is she flying there later on?
By the way, I love Moskvina. That is what having a personality is all about. I love her 😍
Also, Mishin was very friendly walking by....
Good luck to Team Russia.... praying 🙏🏽 that nobody gets COVID and gets disqualified from competing... they worked so hard to qualify for Worlds.... I hope everyone gets to compete there.

Well, technically it's 4 more for the ice dance/pairs disciplines. So just haven't first alternates there adds to 6 more people. Plus another 4 coaches. So that's 10 more people (for countries that have everyone.)

Yeah, they're in no danger of losing 3 spots. Liza's placement essentially doesn't matter at all, as it's unlikely she outscores Anna and Sasha. And Sasha gave no indication that she's "low-balling everything and isn't trying to make the podium". It just means she's not going to 4 or 5 quads. Her 3 quad program (with no triple axel in the SP), is completely out of the reach of everyone BUT Rika and Anna. Her BV IS that much higher. She could win with a 3 quad FS program (depending on Anna's layout) and obviously how everyone skates. Besides the goal is consistency - going for 4/5 quads here and falling doesn't help her at all. It jeopardizes her Olympic team spot (and she's one of the "nominal" people) and does nothing to improve her PCS/reputation both internationally and domestically. Also it runs the risk of aggravating her injury. Besides a 3 quad program isn't exactly "safe".
Is it the same for the men? If there finishes equal 13 or lower than does Russia get 3 spots for the Olympics? That's I why I would have sent Aliev as the #2. He will Garner more respect from the International judges as the defending European men's champion than the kid would.

Same rule in every dicipline I think. For 2 spots it is best skater top 10 for 3 skaters its best two summing to 13.

Just wanted to ask a question about Russian domestic competitions before Worlds starts and the thread gets flooded.

It seems like Russia doesn't use the same age cutoff date for competition categories as the ISU, which uses 'before the 1st of July' of the previous season. So what cutoff date do they actually use?

Because some people have said that there is no season cutoff and they use the exact age of the person on the day of competition itself, which doesn't make any sense imo - there's just no standardisation and it doesn't make much sense that you could have to start your season as a junior and then suddenly become senior eligible in December, for example.

From the fact that they always seem to list birth year in the skater info ribbon that pops up (and in the competition entry lists), it looks like they could be using birth year to determine age - ie their age cutoff is 1st January instead of 1st July. That makes a lot more sense to me. And the fact that the competitions list birth year seems to support that, so is that how it works?

And if that's really how it is, is it maybe borrowed from something - like the age cutoff for schools maybe? Idk, I thought that they must have a reason to purposely make a different age cutoff than ISU's, so it might be used in other sports or the schooling system or something. School age cutoffs in my country are also determined by birth year, so I was wondering if it was the same over there and that's why they use the same cutoff for sports or something.

Yes it's the same. And the men are literally a crapshoot haha. There are about 10 men who could be bronze but who could just as likely be 13th place.
