Honestly, not a podium seep anyone should be proud about, on the other hand in such terrible, nervous, spoiled competition under such circumstances the last three ladies standing are the queens.
At the end of the day they were strong enough to be the best. It obviously sucks that others weren't as good as they can be, but that doesn't mean that our ladies only medaled because of that. At the end of the day they did well enough, and that was the main thing! ☺️

So happy for Anna, the world champion was once 13th place at junior nationals :).

But wow Liza 6 years missing Worlds and she comes back with a silver, I teared up with her. What a moment. It's like Anna's at nationals.

And Sasha! Bronze after 12th in the short. Hopefully this will help with her confidence and next time she can land her 5 quads.

Is this the first Russian sweep in the ladies' event?

Well, that was quite depressing overall but good for the three that they made it.

1. Anna definitely the deserving champion. She clawed her way to that gold by pure determination. The program was messy and slow but on a day like this, it was the best. Good for her that she seized the opportunity today because she‘s looking very vulnerable and there‘s at least Valieva coming up, if not more youngsters.

2. Liza. I dislike her skating and this was one sloooow program but couldn‘t help and feel emotional after seeing her reaction. What an amazing story!

3. Sasha. I‘m always rooting for her and she fought so hard but that program was...not a program. Feels like I was watching her in her junior days but worse. But after the disaster of the SP, she didn‘t give up so she deserves applause for that.

RusNats was way better - but the first 3 got it done - 2 trixels, 4Lz/3toe, that's not too shabby - what Anna did was great after those lackluster trainings.
Rusnats stays the best ladies competition of all time for now, but noone can expect such perfect event so soon in these days. I hope that the olympics will look more like the rusnats than this. :)

Not only can you not derive, state, or explain the mathematical formula for correlation, but you don't even understand it intuitively. A practice is typically reflective of the athlete's current shape and athletic abilities, so it is reasonable to make a forecast based on that, especially when they show similar outcomes in several consecutive practices. Occasionally some athlete will defy the odds. But that's the exception rather than the rule. Shcherbakova showed in competition exactly what could have been predicted statistically based on her practices: Expected quad success rate: 0%. Expected number of landed quads: 0. Actual landed quads: 0. Like I said, I wish she had skated cleanly and defied the odds once again. Unfortunately, this time she performed exactly in the way that any reasonable statistical model would have predicted.
Ok wait a second. Did you predict Anna still winning? No one was confident about the quads.

Also how is expected success rate 0% when she did land a few in practices this week?

Yeah they all kind of sucked, but so did everyone else. Except maybe Chen, Hendrickx and Mikutina. Congrats anyway, Anya! :party2:
