If Tracy and Brian would be with him, maybe, but he's alone...Do you guys think it would be worth it for Jason to try to put in a Quad into his SP, since WTT is a "risk free" event? Or do you think it would be too much too quickly?

I don’t. I think it serves him better to focus on trying to land and fully rotate it cleanly in the FS and correct the other errors he made at Worlds. You’re right in one sense that this is a no risk competition, but in another....this is the start of his push for an Olympic spot. He doesn’t want to give USFS any reason to think he shouldn’t make the team. And since WTT scores are usually on the generous side and scoring at Worlds was somewhat stingy, I think it’s a great opportunity for him to try for two clean programs/ higher scores.Do you guys think it would be worth it for Jason to try to put in a Quad into his SP, since WTT is a "risk free" event? They aren't with him in Chicago. He's training alone for three weeks prior to the event. Minus videocalls and stuff like that I guess.@kan01 why do you think his coaches won’t be there? They usually are, and of course Brian also coaches Hanyu. Are there different rules this year?
Ah I see. Rinks are open in Illinois and Rohene is in the Chicago area so I think he’ll be fine. I think he, Brian, and Tracy would all have a 14-day quarantine if they’d returned directly to Canada (Brian & Tracy probably are quarantining right now) so he wouldn’t have trained much at all in Canada. They won't be with him in Chicago. I was thinking about the two week quarantine also. Will Brian and Tracy want to travel to Japan and quarantine again after? This season is "special" and for Canadians more. That was my reasoning.
It's a bit tricky if Brian & Tracy have gone back to Canada. They have to quarantine 14 days. Then fly out?@kan01 why do you think his coaches won’t be there? They usually are, and of course Brian also coaches Hanyu. Are there different rules this year?
Karen Preston could go for Jason. She was with him at Golden Spin of Zagreb once. She is also his jump coach.Unless its Ghislain going for WTT for both Yuzuru & Jason.
The competition announcement doesn’t state whether athletes are exempt from Japanese quarantine requirements, but it does say that due to the short turn around from Worlds, participants should apply for visa etc well in advance and that they will be kept apprised of entry requirements. So even if Jason was originally a “maybe” depending on outcome of Worlds, he and his coaches will have planned for this in advance. I will say that if all athletes are required to quarantine 14 days and can’t attend practices during that time period, the skating may not be great. It's a bit tricky if Brian & Tracy have gone back to Canada. And quarantine again after reaching Japan?

I doubt it. Cancellation maybe, but 14 day quarantine before event would be odd. The event is in less than three weeks, they should leave very soon if quarantine is required. Or they could get there two weeks earlier and train in the bubble. If being in a bubble counts as quarantine. Let's hope for the best!I will say that if all athletes are required to quarantine 14 days and can’t attend practices during that time period, the skating may not be great.

I understood from the thread that foreign athletes are exempt. Japanese skaters will do the whole quarantine plus practices thing. But I could be wrong too. From something posted in the WTT thread it sounds like the skaters will have to quarantine in Japan but will be allowed to attend practices during quarantine. I’m assuming this applies to all skaters and not just Team Japan but I could be wrong.
)I love Scent of Love. Probably SL is more emotional.I must be the only person who likes his Scent of Love FS more than Schindler's List. That was before the FS was reduced from 4:30 to 4:00 though, so I'm unsure how they can truncate to fit.
I think that SL is more meaningful to Jason and it's also a piece that he's done with his current coaches. I doubt that there was ever any discussion of going back to pre Cricket programs. It's also a piece that resonates strongly with International judges and audiences. And in a time of Pandemic, it's not frivolous. I think it will work well. And he never got to perform it at World's. It's a stunning piece and he can make it even better. But I love Scent of Love also!I love Scent of Love. Probably SL is more emotional.
Peacock streaming was certainly better than the Olympic channel coverage. More up close shots and much better filming in general. I agree practices would have been nice. The pandemic may be why that didn’t happen.Very happy that this will be broadcast and accessible. I was happy with the Peacock coverage and commentary, though wished they had covered practices. Jason has been promoting this on his Instagram account, but no actual info on his coaching situation.
