I have been trying to listen very hard to the music and couldn't quite pick up on the Bolero I know. This explains it. It's very modern and it works!I don’t know if the link below will work, but I think this is the Bolero version Shoma is using. Ravel yes, but arranged by a well-known Japanese composer/arranger. This is not your gramma’s Bolero. Very exciting.

I really like this version of Bolero too, it sounds fresh and it’s less monotonous than the original one.
The choreo is still unpolished but I like the outline a lot and the atmosphere they’re going for. It has some very Stephanesque moments in it and it’s easy to tell that’s something new for Shoma in a competitive program. But I trust him completely to master this program. I’m excited for this
Not a big fan of the costume but I’m sure he will have many more

Thanks for this. It is better in one place and the quality is beautiful. Noticed the pants and the shoulder embellishments match and are a different, lighter color than the shirt. Just being observant.
He says he usually has 2 costumes for each program so #2 costume will hopefully be just as pretty.

Leave it to "Hawk Eyes" Vilya to find this! I have a feeling they've been working on this for quite a while and making good use of their time when there were no competitions. LOVE the footwork Stephane is giving him! He's really pushing him which is great!

158891890 (the original photo thumbnail) sums up a lot about this program and the way Shoma skates it. It's fierce.

That group number is priceless. Where was he happier? FaOI 2017 or SOI 2021? He looks like he's in pain at SOI!

He had a couple of falls, he may be in pain. Or just very tired after the last intense competition schedule, bubbles, quarantines, worries at home.
OR
I don’t know if it’s the same with the Japanese fans, but many western fans refer to him as “baby Shoma” from time to time, and at 23-years old, this may be his “I-am-not-a-baby-dammit” face

Today's Sholero!
This one was just SO GOOD, I have been rewatching it all day - yet every time I still have no clue what's going to happen next in the choreography!
It's crazy how fast it seems to be getting better, I really really like it. I'm also now adding the transitions after the 3rd 3A to my favorite moments list for this program! Other favorite moments are obviously the fantastic StSq (twizzles ), the spreadeagle into the besti squat and the fabulous ending pose.
You can really see the effort he puts in in trying to hit all the poses - I love to see him challenge himself like that! It's very different from what he's done so far and I'm so excited to see how it develops.
