I hope some of Jason’s international teammates will go back to Toronto. I don think Hanyu will return because even without an in person coach he gets more benefits in Japan. Like ice time.

Dreaded double post, but....
Did Rohene win PSA choreographer of the year again? If he never choreographs anything except Sinnerman, he deserves every award there is.

(From Jason's IG stories, which have even more Rohene classic comments)
Ro: "You ended the spin too early!" J; "I know" R:"I've heard it all before"
Someone has got to put *all* of these together![]()

I think it's another skater's music, that's the Sinnerman choreo I'm pretty sure. The PSA EDI Awards were announced tonight according to the Virtual Summit Agenda so it sounds like Rohene won based on Jason's post. I'm sure there will be a press release announcing the winners soon.
Intriguingly, the music in the first clip is not Sinnerman so is Jason working with Rohene on a new program for the Peggy Fleming competition? It's also possible that another skater at the rink was running through their routine while Jason was training and the music may have nothing to do with Jason.
The second clip also includes the Rohene classic, "What kind of camel spin is THAT?"![]()
Agreed! Rohene and Jason make a great team. Ro certainly deserved to win again this year. I wish Ro could work with David Wilson on Shlindlers too, but unfortunately, I believe it was part of their agreement that David choreograph his FS’s.I think that Ro and Jason will go down as legendary artistic partners in skating. From the Iconic Riverdance to Sinnerman, there are some masterpieces that could only be done by Ro and Jason. Their successes are intertwined. I'm so happy that Ro got recognition for what he did with Sinnerman. Nothing else in competitive skating looks like what they do.
I'm anxiously waiting to see how this season goes forward. There is no certainty in any of it. We're getting a bit complacent about the pandemic here, but it's apparently raging in Japan and elsewhere, so international competitions could be a problem if vaccination lags. Hoping for the best this year! And for the winter Olympics to happen next year and for Jason to be there!
...
They did not show the photo during the ceremony, as far as I could tell, but it absolutely has to be that black and white of Jason kneeling and looking wistful. I can't imagine another photo of Melancholy as iconic as that one. (then again, maybe I am imagining a still and it was only ever the B&W video???) ...
Very moving chat from Rohene. He is a wonderful human being and he and Jason have a fabulous friendship. I am so proud ofThe archive of the award ceremony and Melanie's story (her speech starts around 48:00) was really cute:

Rohene also speaks, starting at about 42:00. Not only does he compliment Jason again, but he talks movingly of the events of last summer that led him to choreo Sinnerman.
Including that he grew up five blocks from, in his words, the street where it happened. That really hit me.

This is beautiful! I hope to see this photograph on the cover!Congratulations to the wonderful Melanie Heaney for winning 2021 Photo of the Year at last night's EDI Awards.
Her winning photo was of Jason's Melancholy exhibition at Nats.
Fittingly, Melanie's award for Photo of the Year was announced as the next category immediately after Rohene's for Choreographer of the Year.
As part of Melanie's acceptance remarks, she thanked Jason and reminisced about a favorite story of photographing him way back in 2008, at a benefit show in the Chicago area to establish a memorial fund for a local skater who had passed away. Then an intermediate or novice, Jason skated an exhibition to "You'll Be In My Heart," from Tarzan. (![]()
)
Melanie turned to her best friend and said, "Is it me, or is this kid really good!?!"
(Side note: IIRC, the Photo of the Year typically is featured as a cover photo on a future issue of the PSA's magazine.)
So I’m a little confused. Has he been in Toronto for the past 2 weeks and completed his 14-day quarantine, and is he now back in the ice at TCC?That split and handstand up against the wall, wow. Just like I used to do it(in my dreams)
And Jason's IG story shows him in skates at TCC![]()
