she also said she'd been landing it in a post-Nationals interview: https://olympics.nbcsports.com/2021/01/16/alysa-liu-figure-skating-nationals-championships/me neither, just curious to know where the news came from. she has no reason to lie about it.
Polina in 2014 was the new girl who months before nationals, wasn't expected to make the team, and then in 2018, bradie. But, you're right, hasn't happened as much as I thought. That only happened once, that I recall.
I don't count Bradie because she did well on the GP that year and was really not a surprise. Polina, on the other hand, was still on the junior circuit. Her first international senior event was the Olympics!Polina in 2014 was the new girl who months before nationals, wasn't expected to make the team, and then in 2018, bradie. Polina won Junior Nationals in 2013, so she wasn't a total surprise!I don't count Bradie because she did well on the GP that year and was really not a surprise. Polina, on the other hand, was still on the junior circuit. Her first international senior event was the Olympics!
Only if you follow juniors, which most people do not.Polina won Junior Nationals in 2013, so she wasn't a total surprise!
Again is that that us or normal or people?Only if you follow juniors, which most people do not.
I feel proud to count myself among the "abby normal" people who read this blog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9Pw0xX4DXI.Again is that that us or normal or people?
Lindsay might be that "surprise". Her jumps seem rock solid, even though she is getting dinged (e)a bit on them. I thought she looked outstanding today, just needs a bit more speed and maturity, and she tends to rush from one jump to the next one. I thought I saw her attempt a 3A on warmup, she needs one if she is going to have a chance. I'm going to assume that she will be assigned to a Junior Grand Prix event.Lindsay Thorngren participated in the Colonial Open where she finished in first place. She attempted two 3-3 combinations (3Lz+3L and 3Fe+3T) and received a total score of 184.03.
Oh wow! Do you have a link to her performance?Lindsay might be that "surprise". Her jumps seem rock solid, even though she is getting dinged (e)a bit on them. If someone (anyone) consistently lands a triple axel this season does anyone think the Fed will pretty much lock them on the Olympic team?

Her program begins at 5h19m. Looks to me like she was experimenting with her layout because I think she intentionally zayaked her second 3Lo.
I believe it was intentional in case she decides to switch the first combo to 3Lz+3T. In which case she would have the experience of competing the program with the solo 3Lo.Says a lot about the depth of US ladies competition when the winner can get 0 points on a jumping pass and comfortably win by more than 7 points. I don't think she necessarily intentionally zayaked that jump though, I would think it was more along the lines of an on the fly change and she didn't keep track of what she had done
According to TSL's latest video, USFS is deciding JGP spots based on Skate Milwaukee results which will take place from July 7-11.
The most recent one, there's a comment asking about Alysa and they replied with "I heard Alysa was in Colorado and has grown and been managing a hip injury. She was doing all of her triples through lutz and at least one axel"which episode was that? I try not to watch too much TSL, but I wanna hear what they have to say about this.
