Why odd? She placed 4th at Cranberry. The only Americans ahead of her were Alysa and Mariah, who have 2 spots already.

Audrey finished third last year at Skate America, sixth at ISP, seventh at nationals and fourth at Cranberry Cup this year - she was the highest place finisher at all those events for US ladies that do not have 2 GP assignments already.

Not really. She is close to her pre-injury self for one thing. Also, she is the future of U.S. skating, and this will allow her to move up the list a bit. Gabby and Paige are not there yet, consistency wize.

Clearly the choice was between Audrey and Gabby Izzo. On one hand, Gabby has higher scoring potential and she did well at a few summer comps, but in the other she is inconsistent and did not do well at Cranberry International. Audrey has always had issues with URs even prior to her injury. So, I think her total scoring potential is lower. But, she is more consistent and has nice spins. I imagine she looked better at Champs camp than Gabby and was thus chosen. Not surprising at all.

I was just looking on Twitter for any information coming out of champs camp and one observer said that Gabby looked "incredible" during practices. He also predicted an Alysa-Karen-Audrey Oly's team, but I guess we have no way of knowing how Amber and Bradie will recover from their injuries.

Lindsay was so underscored in the first event in comparison to the later events. I get she URs sometimes, but so do all of the girls above her. I think her strengths/weaknesses weigh out similarly to the girls that are 10-20 points above her. Jumps, spins, steps are all there. The programs aren’t great, but once again, not everyone above her has great programs, either.

Yes, both she and Amber are assigned to SkateAm. It's seven weeks away, too soon to write them off for the whole first half of the season. And at their level, you don't just not do a Grand Prix unless you really, really, really are too injured to do it. She'd lose the ISU ranking points and that affects the skate order at the Olympics.

Unfortunately, it's the only skill she does well. Everything about her skating is lacking in well, everything. But yay for the 4toe.

When referring to highest TOTAL scores, a single score result doesn't mean much. It's the total of TWO event scores that is of interest.

When the top Russian women complete their second event, you can bet their total scores will be well over 400. And we haven't seen the 5 Russian women from Krasnoyarsk yet.

At least post-Krasnoyarsk, there can be no more than 2 Russian women per event.
