haven't followed fs in so long since the last olys, but Flores/Tsarevski are filling the void in my heart since nguyen/kolesnik split
tsarevski in particular, man oh man is he so theatrical. hoping for a long time for this pair, definitely helps that tsarevski is a us citizen

Came across them by chance last year on Instagram and starting following their ice dance journey. They are quite the pair! Very daring in trying different lifts and personality plus. They have really just exploded onto the ice dance scene. I can definitely see this team continue on an upward climb to the top!

Although I regret the withdrawal of H/B from the US classic, it does make me happy to see Cesanek/Yehorov getting the TBD or host spot at SA. I really like them, not in the least because their shared hobby is fishing together (I know, it's got nothing to do with their skating) which I think is just wonderful - even though it's not my hobby at all. I quite enjoy their skating. I saw them for the first time at SA last year (which was a kind of early Nationals) and liked them. I enjoyed their skates at Cranberry too.

I think Flores/Tsarevski are a promising team as well!

Welcome to Golden Skate! Post long and post often!

I have followed C/Y since they first got together as Juniors. I’ve enjoyed watching their ice dance journey together as a young team. They have a very interesting story behind how they first got together if you go check out their website on IG. I find they grow stronger with each new competition!

I agree. When one door closes, another opens. There are always going to be new skaters and new partnerships to fill a void, which doesn't mean the love and the memories for faves who are no longer together, won't last.

For example, I had a soft place in my heart for Kat DelCamp/Ian Somerville, but I just saw the news in Retirements/Splits thread that Kat has formed a partnership with Billy Wilson French of Great Britain. They will represent Great Britain. I was very surprised to see that Kat and Ian have split. I truly wonder what's up? Kat and Ian have apparently been very close friends. Perhaps they are still friends, but their skating goals diverged? Certainly, the competition was getting stiff in junior ice dance with the new partnership of Flores/Tsarevski, and with several other teams improving, including the Browns, and with Wolfkostin/Chen well-established as federation faves.

It's also possible that Ian might be injured, or else he may simply have decided to pursue other endeavors. He will certainly be missed if he's no longer competing. He's been an absolute delight to watch over the years. Well, I can only wish Kat the best with her new partner, and also send warm thoughts and wishes to Ian. In terms of the citizenship issue, I wonder whether one of Kat's parents might have British ties?

I've never heard of Billy Wilson French, so I checked YouTube. He's apparently a dancer on and off the ice, and definitely a good fit for Kat. I think his dyed blond hair works well for him too, and is also a nice contrast to Kat's dark hair:

ETA:
A possible factor in the Kat/Ian split is that Ian turned 21 on September 1st this year, thus he's aging out of juniors. Meanwhile, Katarina turned 17 this past June, so she has at least two more years of junior eligibility in ice dance. She appears to need more junior experience. IMO, she doesn't seem currently ready for seniors. So, that could also explain the Kat/Ian split. Wilson French turned 18 this summer (July 7), so he is close in age to Kat, and competing for Great Britain offers Kat better competitive opportunities. Possibly, Ian is also searching for a new partner, and aiming to switch countries too, if a good opportunity materializes.

That’s a good point!!!

Molly and Yegor were underscored at Lombardia! It is their first international Senior season together though, so I hope they get stronger as the season goes on. They have a lot of potential and have gotten much better.

So were quite a few others. Having said that, Molly and Yegor scored well for the FD (which was lovely to watch), but it wasn't enough to climb up a bit more (they were 8th in the FD, and still only 13th overall). I hope they get stronger too. They are such a lovely and interesting Team.

I have been following M&Y since they first got together as juniors. They have really developed into a beautiful team that have so much future potential! I can’t wait to see them in action at Skate America.
