I'd say the FS might be hit or miss with different people. I for one, like it. The music cuts could be better, but they've improved from their first appearance this season already. The second half is a bit where things get lost, though I dig the first song. And the program is well-constructed. You can see a better flow between elements, some new transitions, which I'm sure they're going to add more as the season goes. I'm on the fence about Nastia's jumps, but the reports from the Test Skates in SPb said she nailed her jumps, so I wouldn't get too worried.

This off-season was their first as WCs, so I'm sure things were different for them. I'm sure they're working on everything to peak at the right time, and when performed at the top of their abilities, these two programs could be very good vehicles for them.

I'm also thrilled they have a full set of difficult lifts in the FS, which they were lacking a bit until now. And their lifts are much, much better than they were when they won Worlds. They have all the goods to succeed.

I agree that they've already improved and they have the goods to succeed, but I just can't see the FS showing them at their very best -- which is what I dearly desire to see happen. I am too much of a fan of M/G ❤️to be on board with this program. It's too subdued, doesn't highlight their performance strengths, IMO; and when I watched a video taken from the opposite side of the rink, I realized another thing that bothers me is that they seem slow because of the music. Just my opinion, of course. I'm going to be cheering hard for them this season, no matter what. My quarrel with the program is a lover's quarrel.

Then today I read a Sept. 11 interview of Zhulin. He was asked about Sinitsina/Katsalapov: "Have you tried to move away from the style in which your couple has been skating for many years?" He answered with my thoughts exactly, applied of course to my darling favorites Mishina/Galliomov:

If this style allowed us to win the world championship, why are we going to move away from it?

I agree with you, though. It's not the kind of program I want to see them skating now, and I wondered about the speed in the second part too, even before the test skates. I want to know how they are moving forward this season. There's always the chance of changing the program, but I wouldn't want them to go back to their FS from last season. I think that program was already overdone. They took a gamble with the SP, but I guess they want to up the program in order to also make it a vehicle for winning. I don't know. There's a lot of season ahead of us.
