When did Anna last perform 4Lz? Even though she did 4Lz first I always thought 4F looked more solid, but her 4Lz is really beautiful.

I'm curious, does anyone believe Anna didn't deserve her three Russian titles and the world title? The usual criticism brought up is "under international judging" - but the world title was literally under international judging, at least.
I have troubles with her scores (like with everyone else's), but can't fault most of her medals. In fact, I'd probably upgrade her junior world silver to a junior world gold...

Shouldnt the tougher programs be more rewarded by the judges than the easier programs as you detailed? In a sense she came out a bit of a loser on the Budapest trophy with Shcherbakova's score. Finlandia had generous judging especially compared to Budapest. Shcherbakova had her jumps gone over by that panel with a fine tooth comb (and a bit ridiculous on some of the calls) and got several edge calls, q's and the fall on her opening quad flip - her TES after GOEs (which there weren't a lot of) was 76.17, 75.17 if you want to account for the 1 point deduction on the quad fall. Tutkamysheva at a generous Finlandia was only given 1 q on her opening triple axel, her TES after GOEs was 78.55. It really highlights how difficult a layout Shcherbakova truly has and how easy of a layout Tuktamysheva has in comparison.
Given the depth of the ladies field in Russia, I kinda wonder if they use the GPF participants to whittle down the field of candidates for the Olympic Team, where no GPF means no Olympics unless they win Nationals.
Regardless of who you are rooting for you had to be cheering that she stepped out of the first quad toe and had the guts to go for the combo with the second quad toe because if she faltered on the quad toe and couldn't get a second jump off she would have been hammered for a repeat solo quad
I wonder how she could have won worlds and be the best scoring lady at WTT with "international judging"...If there were international judging at RusNats, Anna would hardly have won 1 of these 3 titles. Otherwise, I agree that she is very strong in Russia and her scores for the same level of skating as in Hungary would be 240+

Actually Channel One Trophy.Russian Nationals last year.
I'd say she might have been a bit lucky when she won her first title by 0.07. If Trusova hadn't tried the 4T (she fell) and done a 3S instead she would have beaten Anna. Alëna had a fall in the Steps in the short but it wouldn't have mattered if she was clean.I'm curious, does anyone believe Anna didn't deserve her three Russian titles and the world title? While this is a true statement, I always hate it simply because that can be said of any competitor in any competition where someone performed better. But like you said, everyone had equal chances to mess up or be clean. Winning comes down to not only having the goods but being able to deliver them.Well this is a loaded question... I think she earned her titles, the argument I've heard against her is that she won them because other stronger skaters messed up, had Valieva not botched her triple axel in the SP, Trusova her SP combo at Worlds, etc. That might be a valid argument if she only ever won 1 title, but she's only finished lower than second in her international career (junior and senior) once, and won maybe the hardest Nationals 3 years in a row, with equal chance to mess up as anyone else had at those competitions.
They had like maybe 1/4 of the competition Anya has faced faced winning nationals at 14, 15 and 16.Yes, 3 times National champion in a row is incredible. Only Irina Slutskaya and Maria Butyrskaya can match that, and they didn't have the same fierce competition back in their days.
I doubt that ... first Alysa has to land one without fall, ur, stepts in a senior competition with true competition ... and even without 3A .. alena only needs to skate clean .. and for Liza ... she has one of most consistent 3AAlysa can beat Alena at SC. Liu's 3a have been going well in practice and Alena did not look great at Findlandia. Alysa could possibly even overtake Liza with clean 3a skates if PCS are fairly credited.
Has Alysa ever landed 3 clean 3a in 1 competition? And even if she has, it would have likely been 2 years ago. At the moment the most she can muster is 1 clean 3a in a competiton whereas Elizaveta has just landed 3 in one just a few wks agoAlysa can beat Alena at SC. When was the last time Aliona landed a 3A? Has she even landed one for the past 2 years? When was her last successful 3A? 2020 Europeans?Has Alysa ever landed 3 clean 3a in 1 competition? Lipinski? What is recent memory lol?Other than Kim Yuna, has the reigning World Champion ever won the Olympics in recent memory?
Oh I didn’t know that. Just curious, and hoping Anna can do the same.Lipinski? What is recent memory lol?
Baiul 1994 and Lipinski 1998 are the only other ones.Other than Kim Yuna, has the reigning World Champion ever won the Olympics in recent memory?

The skaters have been all over the place in the beginning of the Olympic season but even more worrisome has been the judging so far. It's been all over the place and these people are in their forties or fifties or sixties and they should know better. Maybe they need younger judges who haven't been around for 20 or 30 years and developed bad habits like the older judges have.
Oh i'm loving this. Good work Amei. Creative.
Sweet angelic Anna will be out for blood at nationals! I think we all trust her more than any other Olympic eligible Russian ladies.
She has the coach gene you just cannot teach.
And Yamaguchi in 1992, Witt in 1988 also. I'm probably older and my recent memeory goes further backBaiul 1994 and Lipinski 1998 are the only other ones.
