Four Continents Championships 2008

I heard that her injuries were actually not good despite her excellent performances at Nationals. Is she okay now?
Miki puctured her right leg during the LP warm-up at NHK.
She had her right leg taped around in the Gala (as well as her shoulder taped). She didn't make any falls in this Gala.
She had these two places taped all through the Nats, Gala too.

Yesterday, the SOI Japan tour started, Miki wears a coquettish costume to her new gala number, but the two places are under nets and the rink is so dark, so not sure of tapes till the broadcast on 14th, possibly with blow-up shots.

Around the exactly same time last season, she had the shoulder problem at Nat. At that time, I did not expect that it would so seriously trigger such a long time as this. But she seems to have had that even before the last year. Hope she gets better.

The ISU shows its competition schedule list, and the 4CC announcement file (PDF) linked from that list says :
"Entries must reach the ISU Sport Director for Figure Skating, the ISU Secretariat and the Organizing Committee not later than January 22nd, 2008 (see Rule 378, paragraph 1 and 4 and Rule 104, paragraph 4).

So that means the USFS must determine the 4CC participants before LPs, without knowing the outcome of the Nats.

We still don't have an official roster for Europeans, which starts in just 16 days, because many of the Euro federations (Russia, Germany, GBR) hadn't had their Nationals yet (GBR Nationals won't be final until January 12th). So with no official roster, we have no idea how many names were submitted from each federation.

For example, the Russian federation had absolutely NO idea who the Men and Ladies Euros selections would be prior to Nationals. They might have arrived at the Men's names, but certainly not the Ladies.

Does anyone know how many names are able to be submitted?

If I remember correctly, lots of federations submitted multiple, more than three, names per discipline, which later dwindled to three right before the actual competition. USFS, in fact, sent top three skaters.

That was last year, when 4CC was in the US. It's in Korea this year, and historically, the top Singles skaters haven't opted to skate at 4CC when it's been held in Asia. It's a long, long trip, and it follows too close on the heels of US Nationals.

For example, I doubt very much that Emily Hughes would want to take a week out of her Harvard schedule to compete at 4CC. Meissner might want to stay home and practice intensively for Worlds rather than lose a week's practice time by going to Korea. Flatt, Zhang and Nagasu are all too young to compete in Senior ISU championship events. Weir hasn't competed at 4CC since he finished 4th in 2002. Lysacek has won 4CC twice ('05 and '07) but may pass this time to prepare for Worlds.

Then we might be able to see skaters like Ryan Bradely, Stephen Carriere, Bebe Liang, Alissa Czisny (if she does not make the worlds team:cry:) at 4CC? Well, that's still not too bad. I hope Canada sends Joannie Rochette though. She needs to toughen herself before the worlds.

Today I saw the broadcast of an exhibition show held yesterday, and Miki still had her right thigh taped around, of course as well as her shoulder.

She must have punctured very deeply with her blade. It's already over a month!

They said Miki's new gala number "handcuffs" is by Morozov helped by a dance choreographer in NY.

I can't find EC's "annoucement" file on ISU site, but what was the deadline for the entries?
Did some federations fail to meet the deadline and still passed through? Are entry deadlines like that?

4CC will reach its entry deadline in less than 21 hours euro time.
(If I read correctly, deadline is euro time.) What is USFSA going to do? Send provisional entries and change it later if necessary?
Or just bluntly wait till the Nats finish knowing no one can omit USA from the 4CC?

More info

I'm toying with the idea of going to Korea for 4CC.

I would like to get ticket information, the price of tickets (probably they are all sold out by now), map of the location of the venue where the 4CC will be held. Any lead or links to event website will be greatly appreciated.

So, with Wagner, Liang, and Hacker, the ladies' entries are fixed, aren't they?
It's obvious that 4CC waited for the US nats to finish.
What was the entry deadline (Yuna obeyed) for, then, LOL.
I myself hate nitpicking, but rules should be kept its dignity....

BTW why no official website yet? What is KSU doing?
Who are the other two Korean skaters in the Ladies discipline?
Am I missing any important information source?

I'm so sorry for those who need informations on 4CC, I've never looked into this thread, and trust me, I would have given the information I know of if I had been aware someone's asking.

fumie_fumie, are you still planning to come? I doubt you managed to get a ticket if you were planning to see Ladies event. Like I've said it went sold out so quick I couldnot get mine. Anyway if you need more informations besides tickets, feel free to ask me.

sorcerer, it seems there's no official site of 4CC, obviously KSF didn't prepare one:disapp: why am I not surprised....

I REALLY hope Jeremy Abbott gets to go to 4CC . . . I will be VERY upset if his season ends at Nationals.

Glad: that the best of team US is going (or at least planning to do so).
Not glad: Eurosport won't bc it (and it did, last year).
Anyways: will be cheering for Daisuke.

yuna has new dresses!

in case y'all haven't seen this yet, here's a little bit of news regarding yuna. you can see she got new costumes for both of her short and long programs!

she says in her interview that she's a little nervous because of the pressure of competing in korea, and they say she's been training very hard on the 3-loop. she also has a new exhibition program to mandy moore's song. she picked out the song herself.

Thanks for the clips. Her loop looks very good, and Only Hope is a great fit for her- she says in the clip that she felt a bit awkward with Just A Girl because it was her first time with that kind of a program. On the other hand, the new LP dress is rather bleh...

Theres a pretty big montage on youtube, fs, based on Only Hope. Anything think she mighta saw it and it helped her choose it for her exhibition?

I'm just glad that she is changing her dress. I liked her sp dress, but I secretly agreed with whoever said the lp dress made Yuna look gangly. I'm pretty sure the dress in the clip is unfinished since the designer was still working on it. I wish the skirt was shorter. And OMG "Only Hope" is one of my favorite songs! It just makes me believe in love, Jesus, and lots of pretty stuffs. It really suits her better than Gwan Stefani song and definitely less Disney than Christina Aguilera she did last year.

Thanks for the clip. I like her new LP dress very sophisticated and stylish just like YuNa. It also accentuates her lithe body line. I did not like her other LP dress it looked to costumey on her and did nothing for her. JMO.
