They're all lovely but they're all so young, that it's (IMO) too early to tell much about their future.
Chinese skater from city Qiqihar, had justIt is about nothing. agreed. Another talented kid but for me, I want to see them at 18 when they are young ladies with all the true feminine feelings. The girl is adorable. Russian 11 y.o. Liza is adorable too.

To me, the thing with the skating wunderkinds is that their skating is about ... nothing, and therefore ... meaningless? I believe in skating with one's head and heart, not just with one's pair of legs. But yes, they are so adorable, and their dresses are so pretty. JMO. JMO. JMO.
. Her idol is Yu-Na Kim.
Another poster posted the SP & LP of Da-Bin Choi of Korea on another board. Apparently she is only 7. Not sure how good she is compared to other 7 year olds, but I do love her SP music & LP costume with little angel wings.
. Very cute little girl but who knows what will happen? Her favorite skaters are Yu-Na Kim, Carolina Kostner and Kimmie Meisner.
The only thing they share I can think of is lack of flexibility:.
I figure the common ground these three share is that all of them are relatively 'tall'.
Geng seems to be worried about her future 'growth spurt'. She even complained to her parents about them being 'too big', and not wise to let her learn figure skating while she was very young... Her fater was a hockey player about 175 cm.
Figure skating is supposed for petite girls, those who do not have 'good genes' must be worried big time. haha.
Does anybody know whether that petite 11-year-old Russian girl has the 'right' gene? How tall/big are her parents?
If Bingwa develops in that direction, she will be a very special skater.
Joe
Her coach already pointed out this 'shortcoming'.
It's ok for Bingwa. She can still win the Olys if she gets the most points.Unfortunately, I don't believe that's the direction her torso/legs are heading... :Her coach already pointed out this 'shortcoming'.
The best she can hope is Arakawa-type, .... Irina-type might still be okay,... The worst, I don't know...
Is Carolina Kostner Ballanchine type?
Carolina has the body but I don't see her using it a la Ballanchine So few ice skaters can really mimic ballet except in their arms and some spirals. It's not easy because they are not able to bend the foot. Curry was able to mimic a cabriole. But you'll never see a skater do glisade jete tan leve assembee - a simple combination of steps but skaters have that blade that prevents that. Although I think Browning might mimic it somehow.
Joe
She's physically more like Caroline, but the way she skates reminds me of Yu-na.
Maybe because she has big jumps? Especially the toe-jumps.![]()
Isn't 175cm below average for a man?
She's very good for 7.
Compared to the top juvenile (lowest level) girls at U.S. Junior National's, she needs a 2A (I only saw single axels) and 2-2 and/or 2-2-2 combinations (I only saw 2-1 or 1-2 in her programs) to be competitive.
The juvenile champion last year, Nina Jiang, was 9, and hailed as a prodigy. I think with good coaching and hard work, this little girl Da-Bin can certainly hope to get to a good level by 8 or 9.
