Sasha WILL land her 3A in the short for the first time at the Olympics...I am sure of it
I really hope it will be the case. Speaking of Sasha though - most likely she could do it only after almost two weeks. I don't believe they are gonna put her in a team event (especially in the short where 3A could be needed) - she is just not team player in nature. Which begs to question - why they bring her in China now? Why they bring all three girls this early there - despite that for all 3 of them are physically impossible to participate in a team event. Which means one of the three will be forced to stay there in highly stressful environment without competition and with limited ice training time for a long period. Which in turn can be very detrimental for her in the long run. Wouldn't be much more beneficial to keep her at Krasnoyarsk with Maia and Liza until personal events without risk to test positive with all these everyday tests? Or, if they plan to return there between events - why all this additional flights? USFS wasn't so strange, for example - they going to bring their skaters separately just before their events. Maybe RusFed was afraid of possible positive test on arrival? Why not bring Liza/Maia then?

P.S.: sorry if that was asked already. I am not following this thread lately.

I think it’s much less likely to test positive in the closed loop in Beijing than in Krasnoyarsk. I think they wanted everyone there for the team event in case of positive tests on arrival.

Oh I am so loving this. My girls are at the Olympics!!:yahoo:

And a little nod to Gubanova too, even though it is :ot: here. Just when we thought that all hope was gone for her, she is also at the Olympics!!
I know right?! Just seeing the videos makes me so excited, can't even begin to imagine how exciting it must be to actually be there! :jump:

That makes no sense. First of all, all 3 girls are capable of winning any segment (SP or FS, especially FS), so while I think the RusFed knows exactly who they want to skate them, they're open to who looks most ready. Second of all, all 3 of them jump 3As and/or quads and are trying to peak in their technical content here. It makes sense for them to be WITH their coaches. Even if you only planned on Kami doing both (which I don't think they'll do), Anna and Sasha BOTH need Eteri and Sergei (as their main coach and jump specialist, especially as Anna is bringing back her 4Lz and Sasha is trying to stabilize her 3A), in preparation for the most important competition of their entire careers. Finally, being in Bejing is actually BETTER for them, partially because they're more insulated from the Russian media - there is limited videos and reports allowed from the practices which doesn't hold true in Russia - and partially because we actually KNOW that Krasnoyarsk has COVID whereas Bejing is MUCH more strict - their own choreographer who works very closely with them, especially Anna, IS COVID positive. As for leaving them with Liza and Maiia, RusFed will do anything possible to avoid using either Liza and Maiia who are both training without their coaches. In regards to a highly stressful environment all three girls train at the same rink with Adelia, Sofia A, Maiia, Daria (when healthy), Aliona (when healthy), etc. Their own practices are highly stressful as they know better than anyone how talented their teammates are how precarious their spots really are. Another point to Bejing being better for them, they have each other for moral support and Eteri has already seen the effects of pressure at the Olympics, especially with Yulia. She'll try her best to isolate them and can better do that with them.

Dasha is back on ice!

there probably is no place for the substitute.
The big logistic problem in the olympics is accomodations.

Kamila will skate the free at the team event. I don’t know if she will also skate the short.
