Uno Shoma (JPN)

Ack, not the skate he likely wanted. Great start with the 4Lo and 4S, but a huge step-out on the 4F that seemed to deflate the rest of his jumps. Really solid 3A and choreo steps, but had to hold on to the 4T. The slower speed actually him I think going into the next cleaner 4T+2T. Shame on the pop in the 3A+1Lo+1F since 3A was fantastic like the first. Not sure what's going with the second spin getting a big X, hopefully he didn't do another combo spin or something, eek... I just don't think this Bolero music, being a bit plodding, is the best choice for him, as he great at bringing gravitas to everything he does. But I think this might be still strong enough for bronze.

Shoma did enough. But, that ending was so erratic. Single flip and an invalid element. He won’t win free skate. But, his SP is enough of a lead to hold on to a medal. So, two medals in back to back Olympics. Good job Shoma!

When Shoma fell I said something that will probably make my mom come back from the dead and wash my mouth out with soap. Dang, so disappointing and I feel so bad for him. Just not as strong and focused as he was in the SP. Glad he'll still make the podium.
